Nah, I'm up in the Fargo area, so we don't get the alternative. I do remember it being OTA when I lived in the Twin Cities though. I could go somewhere and watch it, but they mostly just make me angry these days anyway....but it's like a train wreck, and I'll probably end up getting sucked in come game time, just so I can gawk.

Frankly, with the way Minnesota has played defense (which was supposed to be a major strength), I'm not sure you'd even want to watch them try to stop the New Orleans offense.
Chad Johnson/Ocho Cinco would like the Bengals to return to bad behavior, but on Sunday he's guaranteeing good behavior. That is, if you deem kissing the Dallas Cowboys star at midfield a show of respect:
"That's America's team. It's one of the greatest organizations ever. This week, to show my respect for Dallas and its owner, Jerry Jones, I'm going to score and I'm going to kiss the star. I'm telling you, I'm not being rude about anything. I'm going to kiss the star. It's going to be fun. I'm excited to go to Dallas. You know, T.O. (Terrell Owens), you've got two of the don't-know-what-is-going-to-happen-next receivers playing. It's going to be fun."
Translation: Dear Jerry Jones, Please Please Please find a way to trade for me this offseason. My team sucks. I mean, Ryan Fitzpatrick led us in rushing yards last week. Might as well put me under center and let me pass to myself. Please please please, I want to be a Cowboy.
Since Ocho Cinco was talking about the need for bad behavior yesterday, why not spike the ball on the star? That disrespect worked for Terrell Owens. Of course, Owens was able to accomplish step 1, scoring a touchdown, not once but twice. That's going to a difficult task, especially if Carson Palmer is out for another week.

If you watched them last year, you knew their D was overrated. Yes, the Williams boys can stop the run, but that's it. They don't pressure the QB and Griffin is about as bad as it comes in the secondary. If their pickup Williams doesn't make a difference when he finally returns, it's going to be a very very long year.

If I was Palmer and CJ kisses the star I would tell him to keep walking off the field. What is funny is that he thinks he is still one of the elites. IMO he is not even the best one on his team. He needs to run a string of good to great games to back up all the crap that comes out of his mouth.

 If I was Palmer I wouldn't throw a pass to CJ in the red zone. A few years ago I didn't mind his schtick. He was doing some silly things and getting fined for them but it was ok, because he was playing well and his team was playing well. Eventhough he did some dumb shit he always came off as a team first guy... unlike T.O and Randy Moss. This past offseason he proved that he's a me first guy just like the others. Palmer needs off that team bad. He's the one that should be demanding a trade.

I'm a little worried right now. Love the Niners like I do, I still had not expected them to put much of a fight up against the Patriots. However, with the way that Buffalo has been playing, I was counting on them being able to effectively shut down Arizona, and keep us tied with them for first in the West.
But now, with Edwards gone... The worry is starting to show.

I've not heard anything about giving him more carries. Right now he's more of a 3rd down guy and a goal line back. It's very possible that they could, though, since Edge is only getting older and Hightower is tearing it up. Certainly remains to be seen.

wmansir
10-05-08, 07:53 PM
The Pats win wasn't pretty, but it wasn't too ugly either. They did a good job controlling the ball in the classic NE scheme of short pass plays setting up the run game. Cassel had 2 ints but only one was a bad throw. The D was spotty, especially in the 1st and 4th quarters. Coverage was atrocious at times but they got 3 picks. The D-line did a great job getting pressure but couldn't get sacks.
BravesMG
10-05-08, 08:11 PM
It really looked like the Pats wanted to establish a true vertical passing game from the outset. The long pass to Moss got things off on the right foot, but Cassel just couldn't feel the pressure around him well enough to let the receivers get deep enough and ended up underthrowing a lot of deep passes. They were lucky that the running game was doing just enough to keep the chains moving. The Pats D was gassed and winded at the end and they were barely on the field for 20 minutes. A win is a win, no complains or anything, but I didn't take it as a very strong sign of things to come.

10-05-08, 08:11 PM
During the game they said NE plans to stay out west for next week's SD game. That didn't work out well for AZ last week. I think I would rather take a couple of flights rather than disrupt everyone's routine for an entire week.
@BravesMG
I agree regarding Cassel. Obviously he is no Brady and that is most evident in the pocket. But then I don't think anyone is as good as Brady when it comes to mobility in the pocket. Considering the opponent I wasn't overly impressed, but it gave me hope that it was the Fins game was a fluke and not the Jets game.
