After Mondays loss to the Bears which they should of won but didn't and carry a 2-2 record things are looking a bit bleak for them. They should be 3-1, possibly 4-0 but in typical Phily fashion, 2-2 is where they stand. With all the injuries and mis-management they have I don't see them doing a whole lot.
With Westbrook questionable again for this week in a must game vs. Washington they really don't have anyone to take his place.
How can a team with so many holes not draft a first round pick in each of the last two years? They will win a few of their games but they will not get over the hump to go all the way.
The mis-management of the front office will not allow it. All they care about is doing just enough to reel people in to take their money but won't do enough to go all the way. So rest easy Eagle fans, it's the same old nonsense that happens every year. Nothing will change until Reid and the people above him are removed. And even then, I don't know.

The usual Negadelphia sentiment. I've lived through some bad times as an Eagles fan. These are good times. Great times. Could they do things better? Sure. But the front office is not responsible for "one of the best O-lines" in the league to get s 1st and goal from the 1. Sorry.

Woulda, coulda, should of. I disagree that they could possibly be 4-0 or 3-1. Dallas out slugged them; no surprise. Chicago, while an underdog, came in firing the ball, and their defense finally played up to their capability.
You could easily say the Bears should be 4-0, and possibly find some other teams that could/should be 3-1, 4-0. That's why they play the game!

It's a brutal division, but the Eagles have played really well so far. You do wonder if giving away the Chicago game will come back to haunt them. The Football Outsiders have a stats the measures overall team play. So far, the Eagles rank 3rd in the entire NFL. The bad news? New York Giants are 2nd, Washington is 7, and Dallas is 8. And at a minimium one of them doesn't make the playoffs.

Because they outplayed the Bears. They outgained them, won the turnover battle, and lead in time of possession. By any metric, they should have won that game. But they didn't.

If they outplayed the Bears, they would have reached the endzone on that goal-line stance where they failed on fourth down from 1 yard away. Step outside your Philly Fan Box and examine your team as a non-biased individual. They straight up lost that game. No way the "handed" the Bears a win. I've been an Eagles fan my whole life, and it is time for Reid to go after the season. The guy has been here for 10 years, and the team has been on a downslide since going to the Superbowl 4 years ago.
The problem with Reid, and why he will never win a Superbowl, is that he is so damned hard-headed and wont adjust from his flaws. He won't go out and get that #1 receiver, and would rather have McNabb spread the ball around to 5 different receivers. He won't go after a big time TE in the draft, as all the successfull teams have a great TE: Witten, Cooley, etc. He won't draft that pass rusher, as the Eagles only get pressure when they blitz. He won't run the ball on a consistent basis, so every team knows they will pass 60% of the game, so there is no threat of them worrying about the run.
Andy Reid is a good coach, and he had his run with the eagles from 2001-2004, but it is time for a change, it is time to get rid of those mediocre receivers like Greg Lewis. I am sick of seeing the average LJ Smith catch 2 passes every week, while Jason Witten catches 8 for Dallas. I am sick of the Eagles not being able to stop the run, as Portis ran all over them yesterday. And I am sick of Andy Reid getting out-coached in the second half as the opposing team makes adjustments and he keeps the same gameplan from the week.
I don't know why Lurie is married to Andy Reid, cause if the Eagles don't make the playoffs this year, this will make 3 of the last 4 years out of the playoffs, most coaches get fired for those results.

I'm with you. Add to that fact that the Eagles did not have a #1 pick the last two seasons. With their first pick (#2) 2 years ago, he picks a scrub QB from Houston? I don't think they are cheap. They signed Samuel for whatever reason. They are self-described "capologists" and they outsmart themselves. I agree. The Eagles look long term TOO much. Sometimes you just have to go for it, and suffer the consequences years down the road. They went for it in 2004 with the signing of TO and Kearse. TO blew up the locker room in 2005, and Kearse really got old and slow the next year too, but both of them got them to a Superbowl in 2004, and that is all the fans ask for. I respect that the Eagles stay under the cap every year, but sometimes you gotta go for it all, or you will be like they are for the past 3 years: 6-10, 10-6, 8-8, mediocre, maybe make the playoffs, win a playoff game, NO shot at winning a Superbowl.

Listening to talk Radio in the past few weeks, the groundswell is starting to get rid of Andy Reid by the fans. Now the Eagles management Lurie/Banner/Reid are so arrogant towards the fans to begin with, I don't know if the fire Andy Reid talk will make a difference.
If the Eagles miss the playoffs this year, or even just slip in at 9-7 and lose early in the playoffs, you have to start questioning Jeff Lurie's committment to winning it all. I often wonder these days if the Lurie/Banner are content with a winning team every year, as they are always 10 million dollars under the cap, and the stadium is full. Why go for it all, if you are playing to a packed house?
I see guys like Bill Cowher out there, and Spagnuolo, the D-Coordinator of the Giants, and really wish Lurie would fire Reid and take a run at one of these guys.
What do you guys think? If Reid misses the playoffs this year, which will make 3 out of 4years, is he gone?

The one factor that makes Reid "almost" untouchable is the fact that he has averaged more than 10 wins a season his first 10 seasons as the Eagles coach. The guy wins a lot of football games. Granted they are rarely upsets of better teams, but he usually does not lose to the teams they should beat.
I'd much rather have a coach with some fire. Or one that doesn't consistenly look like he is trying to outsmart everyone with "genius" playcalling that generally backfires.
The biggest problem with the Eagles is their inability to draft great players at the top of the draft.
Since 2003 their first picks have been as follows.
2003: Traded up to draft Jerome McDougle - Bust w/ extenuating circumstances (Inactive most weeks with the Giants)
2004: Traded up to draft Shawn Andrews - Enormous talent with more injury and personal issues than most entire teams have. I'm not quite sure he ever plays in the NFL again, let alone for the Eagles.
2005: Mike Patterson - Average DT (They signed him to something like a 12 year contract extension 2 years ago)
2006: Broderick Bunkley - Average DT that shows signs of dominance
2007: Traded down to draft Kevin Kolb - Hasn't played much in the regular season, might be a top 5-15 QB in the NFL some day. Don't see him as elite.
2008: Traded down and took Trevor Laws - ANOTHER DT. When your first pick in 3 of 4 years is a DT and none of them are dominant run stuffers who can collapse a pocket, you've failed.
Their last great first pick was 2002 - Lito Sheppard, and even he has injury problems.
This is not to say that the Eagles have not found absolute gems later on in the draft. Westbrook was a 3rd round pick in '02, Trent Cole and Omar Gaither were 5th round picks. Jamaal Jackson was undrafted. Stewart Bradley was a 3rd round pick.
They need to re-evaluate their scounting of blue chip players entering the draft. You hit on one or two first round picks and you have a team that consistently wins 12 games instead of 9-10.

I have often wondered about this myself for years. This goes back to the Norman Braman years, who was the black coach they had years ago? I see his face but his name escapes me. My neighbors are starting to pick up on this too. The just field a team to make more money theory. This goes back even to the turf at the Vet that they wouldn't fix for a long time after being rated the worst field in the league.
You can probably forget about Cowher, Spagnuolo could be a possibility but obviously Reid would have to go first. They would need a GM also.
I don't think Reid will be gone until his contract is up. He still has a few years left on it, I believe. As for Jackson, I think he's great. He has a lot of fire and spunk and is fun to watch. They got lucky with him.

What amazes me is that McNabb and many other Eagles didn't know that there are ties in Football after one overtime? The rule has been like that since I was born in the 70's, and McNabb admitted he was shocked when the game ended as he thought they could play all night? Are you kidding me??????
As for Reid, the rumor is that they are trading McNabb and keeping Reid since he has 3 years left on his deal, which I think is a joke and tells me that Jeff Lurie is all about making money and not wanting to win Superbowls.
