They honored (and already shipped) The Texas Chainsaw Massacare BD price error....so hurry in on this one!

Remember, they charge before they ship. So you will pay for this item right away even though it does not come out for a few months.

Did the same thing. Anyone know if they'll ship Child's Play as soon as it's back in stock, or will they wait until Journey to the Center of the Earth is released? I hope it's the first option, I'd sure like to have Child's Play for the horror challenge.

Thanks, bought this and Doctor Who Infinite Quest ($3.99)Nice heads-up. Since I'm skipping the BR disc, getting this alone would cost 5.98 total (w/$1.99 s/h figured in), which is a tad more than what I expect it'll cost during the next DD 20% off sale.

I somehow wasn't even aware of this title, but I've added it to my DD wish list, which is now pretty heavily-laden with Doctor Who titles (Torchwood S2, Doctor Who S4, Sarah Jane S1, Invisible Enemy, and now DWIQ.)

Thank you

I was actually not planning to buy this movie.
This was a fun movie as 3-D, but I don't expect the home version of 3-D to really work, and as a 2-D, this was not really that good of a movie.

But if I can get it for this price, I will definitely order it.

I heard about that as well. But at Warner's site, they do have two bluray versions with separate links for Journey in 3D version and Journey in 2D version. Family's description of the movie also seem to imply it is a 2D version, but hopefully it is indeed in 3D.

Amazon only has one listing for the BD and it states it is the "Limited Edition 2-D and 3-D with glasses."

Hope that is the case with this one as I only got it to check out the 3-D. If I hate the movie, I am sure I can sell it on half.com and get what I paid for it at least.

Yeah, there's only one version. Check out the back of the blu ray package; it says you can watch it in 2D or 3D

The UPC number at the FamilyVideo site matches the 3D version at all other sites, including the Warner site. It includes both 2D and 3D.

It seems that Family Video is cancelling these orders...

"We regret to inform you that, due to a pricing error, we will not be able to fulfill your order of “Journey to the Center of the Earth” on Blu-ray Disc for $9.99. We have canceled your order and refunded your credit card the charge of $9.99 per copy ordered plus applicable tax and shipping."

They did offer a $5 coupon code which may or may not be unique.

"This coupon can be used to re-order “Journey to the Center of the Earth on Blu-ray Disc”, currently listed at $26.99. With the coupon, your cost would only be $21.99, making it the lowest price in the country! You can do so by clicking on the link below:

http://www.familyvideo.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=287071

Of course, if you prefer a different product, this coupon can be used toward an order of any item(s) you choose. This coupon is valid through 12/31/2008.

Customer satisfaction is the #1 priority of FamilyVideo, Inc. We thank you for your understanding, and we hope you will accept our apology as we attempt to regain your trust in FamilyVideo.com. Please call or email us if you have questions or concerns in regards to this or any other issue.

Yeah, I got the same e-mail. I'm debating about using it to order another Blu-ray. There's no way I'm going to re-order Journey to the Center of the Earth at such a higher cost.

Update: I just used the coupon to Pre-Order the Criterion Collection Blu-ray for Chungking Express. Total came out to $25.12 with shipping and tax. Not an amazing bargain but Criterion stuff rarely goes on sale that much (especially with new titles) and I really love the movie. It was the cheapest way to pre-order it that I've seen so hopefully I made the right decision.

Anyway, I tried to use the coupon again to Pre-Order the Criterion Collection edition of Bottle Rocket on Blu-ray as well but it told me the code was invalid. I'm guessing it's a one time only code that's account specific.

I assume it takes a couple of days for it show up. I know when I get a refund from a place like Best Buy they tell me that it could take 2-3 days.

10-10-08, 03:12 PM
It is bullshit that they charge your card ahead in the first place. If they're going to charge several weeks out from fulfilling then the least they can do is fulfill the order and not cancel it. What's not so say that they don't intentionally put out price errors to get people to order, collect that money and invest it and then cancel closer to release and return said money?

My cancellation came through last night, which was no surprise. I've ordered from Family Video in the past with no problems, but hate paying for shipping. I guess I'm spoiled by Deep Discount's free shipping policy.

Now, on to figuring out what to buy with the $5 coupon.

I had the same order you did. I finally got my refund, and of course, shipping was not included in it. So basically I paid more for Child's Play than I would have otherwise. But, as a bonus, I got a $5 coupon that's mostly worthless because their prices aren't great to begin with and I'll have to pay shipping a second time. I'd argue, or just return Child's Play, but it's probably more headache than it's really worth. I'll just chalk this one up as a loss.

I received my refund on Oct. 10 nearly 2 weeks after I placed the order.

I was just randomly checking my orders and noticed that JOURNEY was indeed cancelled. Family Video didn't even bother to let me know.

When I contacted them to complain about their policies (especially charging for pre-orders instead of when they ship), I received their "apology" which was a $5 coupon on a future order.

Now why would I support their firm just because I have a $5 coupon?
