My faith is certainly in question right now, the White Sox are trying not to get in it seems. Hopefully the Royals roll again, and the Sox can get a win.....they put up some offense last night. I sure hope they didn't use it all.
I'd also really like to see the Mets get in, but that is getting bleak as well.

The Twins should win today, because the White Sox don't play until later, and they won't be distracted by watching the scoreboard. Also, having a terrible pitching matchup should help, because this team tends to not make any sense.

My faith was gone Thursday night. The minute we go to the bullpen this weekend we're screwed.
Maybe Vazquez will actually close out the season strong. I was going to say he's on short rest, but it's not like he worked that long Tuesday.
Besides, how the hell do they expect to get through the postseason with their current bullpen and offense? Also we'd be without homefield advantage in every series except the World Series, and we know what the road record is like.
Just put me out of my misery now LOL.

There aren't even words for how good Santana was today: he pitched a 3 hit shutout with 9 Ks on three days rest, after a career high 125 pitch outing his last start. He makes everyone else on the staff look third rate. Give this guy some Cy votes.

Phillies win the NL East. They played great down the stretch, so they deserve it.
Lidge has been perfect this year with save opportunities, but he's got to be the luckiest as well. In the 9th with a run already home - Nats had bases loaded, one out in the 9th down 4-3 with Zimmerman up. Mofo grounds into a game-ended DP. Seems like everytime he's in there, there's always a baserunner or 2.
Johan....man....wow. For the last month, every game he's pitched had been a must-win. And for year #1 with the Mets - he has definitely earned every penny.
Tomorrow at Shea, I'll be there. Got tix off stubhub before the season started. Is it too much to ask for a great start by Ollie? Or at least last more than 1/3 of an inning, and not sign back with Atlanta during the off-season (oh wait...) And if Sanchez, Heilman, Feliciano, or Shoeneweiss come into the game at *any* point - it's not a good sign!
Vazquez out in the 5th - here comes the shitpen. I suspect it will be 10-1 shortly.

Both teams had been playing so bad that somebody had to win those games. I think the bad Sox defense had as much to do with the wins as any sort of solid play by the Twins.
At least I get your game on WGN tonight, so I can take a little solace. Though a little part of me is disgusted by the idea of the Twins getting baled out again.

Is there any chance they dip in to, say, the Brewers local coverage should Marlins/Mets become a blowout. How about the AL Central-will there be any coverage of the White Sox and/or the Twins game.
Also, I know that TBS has exclusive rights to any play in game (on Monday, the only possible game would be Brewers/Mets). But what if the White Sox have to play that make up game in Detroit? Will TBS show that game too/either?

I love how everyone thinks the Angels won't be tough to play in post-season when they'll end up being the only team that wins 100 games this year, 50 on the road and 50 at home. Yeah, they should be "cake" to beat in the play-offs.
Who is everyone? (or anyone for that matter?)

rotfl White Sox come back to make it a little competitive and then give back a bunch right away. (I'm not laughing at you bunkaroo, more with you I think)

I'm not saying they'd be easy. But the Sox played them pretty well this year, and we came very close to sweeping them last series in early September.
They were also favored over the White Sox in 2005 IIRC.

Oh man I know. It's like I said the shitpen comes in and here we go.
So at this point I think we have to play the Detroit makeup Monday unless we lose and the Twins win tomorrow, does that sound right?

Yep, if you win you have to play the Detroit game or if the Twins lose.
If they both win or lose, you play Detroit and if you beat Detroit you play the Twins.
If the Twins lose and the Sox win, you play Detroit. If you win, it's done and if you lose, you play the Twins.

I find it hard to believe nobody's talking about the fine play of the Cardinals and the MVP candidacy of Albert Pujols...hence, I have to bring it up. :)
If St. Louis had been playing like this 2-3 weeks ago, I honestly believe they would be ahead of all these other wild card contenders right now.
Pujols: .356, 37 HR, 115 RBI, 7 SB, 100 Runs...all of this after those pre-season concerns of him blowing out his elbow.

All of those numbers are great, but it's expected so sometimes people don't talk about it. Plus he is in the national league and there is another player that has been great and more so during this stretch. Plus he is a pain in the ass so gets more press.

At the very least, I would imagine it would air on WGN.

WGN also has Brewers-Cubs Sunday.

Well they might not win 100 games this year. They have lost the last two at home to Texas by a combined score of 20-5.
They have one more chance to win 100. I know HFA is all sewn up, but jesus show a little more effort at the end of the year. Lackey and Santana are starting games 1 and 2 vs Boston, and they both got lit up the past two games.

I find it hard to believe nobody's talking about the fine play of the Cardinals.....That's unfortunately what happens when you are in 4th place and have been irrelevant for most of the season.
Concerning the NL Wildcard, it would be great if the Mets and the Brewers had a one game playoff because there is nothing better than a one game winner take all playoff game.

Scioscia told Lackey and Santana to throw BP to Texas. He's treating this series like it was spring training.....they have HFA wrapped up and there's nothing else to play for.

That statement makes a great deal of sense since the Cards were in the Wild Card lead over 100 games into the season.
I knew I could count on a response from you WCChiCubsFan! I should let you know something that should come as no surprise to you. I follow my team all year long, win or lose. You'll find I post in the baseball threads as often when the Cards suck as when they do well. You probably find it hard to relate to this since your forum history shows you began posting in the baseball threads in the middle of 2007. No coincidence I suppose that the Cubs success ties in directly with your vocal support of them. I guess I can look forward to the time when the Cubs become "irrelevant" next month, so I won't have to hear anymore lame cracks from you...

Unfortunately in the second half they faded away into irrelevance. I knew I could count on a response from you WCChiCubsFan!I’m glad I could meet your expectations, perhaps next year the Cards can meet yours also. I should let you know something that should come as no surprise to you. I follow my team all year long, win or lose. I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the people who post in the baseball threads follow their team year round so you really aren’t special in that regard. Of course being a typical Cards fan you probably think you are, after all the Cards have the best and most knowledgeable fans in baseball. How do we know this? Because every Cards fan you met will tell you so. Heck they are like the Fox News of baseball fans, they tell you they are the best and most knowledgeable so it must be true. You probably find it hard to relate to this since your forum history shows you began posting in the baseball threads in the middle of 2007. No coincidence I suppose that the Cubs success ties in directly with your vocal support of them.Oh pains me that you so cleverly implied that I’m a bandwagon fan. Here’s a wild one for you, ever stop to think some of us here might also be posting on other forums on the internet?
Since you took the time to actually look at my posting history (a rather sad and pathetic commentary about yourself) it shows that the majority of my posts are in the Political section. That’s what originally attracted me to the forum and it is still my favorite section. I guess I can look forward to the time when the Cubs become "irrelevant" next month, so I won't have to hear anymore lame cracks from you...Yes if the Cubs don’t win it all I’m certain we can expect some more insightful comments from you. Here, I’ll save you the time: “1908”, “Bartman”, “the goat” and on and on. After laboring through your posts I’m starting to realize that the philosopher who once said, “Simple minds, simple pleasures”, must have been friends with a Cards fan.

Do we need to fight? I'm sure all Cards fans would consider the season a disappointment, but there were moments when they seemed more of a threat than the Brewers. Forum posting history is not really an indicator of fandom; WCChiCubsFan has always shown his colors in his user name. I'm interested in politics but really only lurk in that heated forum. And as a Cubs fan, I think cardsfan111 is a good guy: supportive of his team but gracious even to Cubs fans, which I never thought I'd see in a Cards fan.

Sheesh...we had the 2nd best record in the NL at that moment just behind the Cubs. And I could quote several posts you made during that time to the effect of, "The Cubs lost, but that's ok, because the Cards did too." Apparently you considered the Cards relevant then. Sure we were eliminated in September, but to say we were irrelevant for most of the season was incorrect. Sorry to have called you on the facts.
I’m glad I could meet your expectations, perhaps next year the Cards can meet yours also.
The Cards met and exceeded anyone's expections this year. Aside from the bullpen struggles, they've played as well as anyone in my opinion (and I would think in the opinion of any objective baseball fan).

I think we found the root of this conflict. You have a real bitter opinion of the Cards and their fans...not to mention Fox News.
Oh pains me that you so cleverly implied that I’m a bandwagon fan.
Not at all. A bandwagon fan would only support the team when they do well. I truly believe you've been a Cubs fan for a long time, but you seem to be the most vocal when they're on top of things.

I just recognized that while you've been a member on this forum for many years, I've only dealt with your offhand remarks/slams in the last year or so.
Yes if the Cubs don’t win it all I’m certain we can expect some more insightful comments from you. Here, I’ll save you the time: “1908”, “Bartman”, “the goat” and on and on.
I just figured that would be my only relief from your comments, if the Cubs were eliminated. I've never been the kind of person who would kick someone while they were down. In past years, when the Cards have been eliminated during a postseason round, my phone would immediately ring after the final out...Cubs fans letting me know how happy they were. I can't recall a single time I've reciprocated that kind of behavior.
After laboring through your posts I’m starting to realize that the philosopher who once said, “Simple minds, simple pleasures”, must have been friends with a Cards fan.
I guess that's the sad and pathetic pot calling the kettle black...

Agreed, the squabbling is unnecessary. And I appreciate the comments davidh777 and recognition of my posting etiquette. I made a positive statement about the Cards to which WCChiCubsFan responded with a wisecrack that wasn't needed. But again, it certainly sounds like he's encountered a few Cardinals fans in the past who have gotten under his skin and his response is to crack on them when the opportunity arises.
