Should the three teams finish the regular season with identical records, the Phillies and Mets would play on Monday, Sept. 29, at Citizens Bank Park, with the winner being declared the NL East champions. The loser would host Milwaukee on Tuesday, Sept. 30, with the winner of that game advancing to the postseason as the NL Wild Card entry.

^ It's not written anywhere, but I think it's assumed that should there be inclement weather of any kind, MLB would probably move some of these games to Yankee Stadium...causing fans of the above teams to be livid, along with agitating untold numbers of Yankee fans with the thought the Mets would be the last team playing in the stadium.

Typed somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but with a half-hearted belief that MLB might do something this stupid after the shenanigans with the Astros games earlier in the month.

An even more outrageous tie-breaking scenario per mlb.com:

The scenario is this: If Houston sweeps the Braves this weekend and the Mets get swept by Florida, and the Brewers are swept by the Cubs, the Astros and Cubs would then play a makeup of their Sept. 14 game that was postponed by Hurricane Ike on Monday at Minute Maid Park. If Houston won that game, the Brewers, Mets and Astros would be tied at 88-74 for the Wild Card lead.

In the case of a three-way tie for the Wild Card, two teams would play on Monday, with the winner facing the third team on Tuesday. But that can't happen on Monday, if the Astros are involved, because they would have to play the Cubs in the makeup game that day. Pushing back that tiebreaker scenario to Tuesday and Wednesday would encroach on the start of the NL playoffs, which are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Major League Baseball hasn't announced plans for such a scenario, other than to acknowledge it could impact the scheduling of tiebreaker games.

Rocco's muscles were constantly fatigued and his endurance continued to weaken. Just this week, doctors diagnosed him with Mitochondrial Myopathy, a very rare genetic illness. It's one of the 43 neuromuscular diseases recognized under MDA - the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Doc says he'll be able to continue playing for a few years. :up:

I'd rather the Red Sox play either the Twins or White Sox instead of the Angels in the division series, especially since they have played poorly against the Angels this season. So much for that...

The Red Sox have pretty much stated that they aren't trying to win the division by the lineups they are trotting out there. They are all about getting their pitching rotation in tact and getting Lowell some ABs. The Yankees will probably win this series 36-8...
