Amazon is having a Buy 2 get 1 Free blu ray sale but when you click on link no movies show up. Even if you put three in cart it doesnt show up as being a sale. I placed order and then sent email with link below stating it says any blu ray can be purchased as part of sale. Got response a few hours later and they said they corrected it for me. Checked order and they did take cost of one down to 0.

I don't think this is the same thing. I just received an email yesterday about a buy 2 get 3rd free deal. And yes, I received an email about that previous bargain as well.

But when you click on the link to the new email, the page it sends you to says:

Blu-ray 3 for 2 Sale

For every two Blu-ray titles purchased, get a third one free when you add them all to your Shopping Cart. Go to the Blu-ray store

This makes it sound like it's on any Blu-ray. But I take it these type of deals don't usually include pre-orders, even if those titles come out the same day.

I had one big order with 12 pre-orders (convenient number). Anyway, I canceled that order and broke it up into 4 separate orders. Nothing was taken off my order, but I sent an email and now each one of those orders has one free Blu-ray. So, I'll be getting The Third Man, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Iron Man and Sukiyaki Western Django for free. I like this deal. :)

I am in the same boat as Trevor, meaning I have no player but have titles. For me I got stuff to show the system off, so not having to pay for two discs is ok with me.

If I had more money, I would have gone for the bigger box sets. But I got two Pixar flicks, an awesome (my opinion) Shoot'em Up disc, There Will Be Blood, The Bank Job, and Iron Man for under $100. That isn't a bad deal at all.

That's weird. I would think the type of person who would buy Criterion discs would be even more interested in getting the highest quality audio and video presentation. And getting that can help enhance the story, especially one told in a very visual way. Plus, with the exception of the deluxe Last Emperor set that's coming out for SD, all the extras are identical and the same price. And is there a current B1G1F deal on Criterion pre-orders?

Oh, and there were some good titles at $13.99-14.99 that could have been purchased. I almost placed a couple of orders for those. Six Blus at less than $10 a piece? That's a BAD deal?

I ordered 3 box sets and got the same response. The 2 James Bond box sets and Band of Brothers which would be free. But I got the same email as you. Even though the email I for from Amazon.com says "Since this order has not yet shipped, I have adjusted the price of one of the Blu-rays "Band of Brothers [Blu-ray]" in your order to $0.00 to reflect the promotional offer. On the date of shipment, you should receive an e-mail message confirming the date, contents, and method of your shipment." Something just not look right with this email. What will prevent them from charging me full price for BOB when it ships.

Yes it shows a total, for the 2 Bond sets, which were the rest of my order, but does not add Godfather. Just checked my CC and no charge either.

I never heard anything so I emailed them again overnight Sunday night/Monday morning. I also emailed them asking about a previous order that I didn't receive my 5% HD discount on. I immediately got a 5% credit for the previous order but still didn't hear anything on my buy 2 get 1 order. I emailed them again this morning and finally heard back a couple of hours later saying that they couldn't honor the promotion.

This is "par for the course" for Amazon. Back during the Buy 1 Get 1 Free debacle (which turned out to be Buy 0 Get 2 Free), when they tried to start charging people, everyone started calling customer service. Some people got credits back, some people got a cold shoulder, and it went on for days. It just depends who gets your phone call (or email). There is no standard, corporate-wide answer. Unfortunately, your email got to the wrong employee (one that actually had a clue).

If there was any chance of me getting the free movie, it would have been on Sunday when I placed the order and sent my original email. But, considering my first 2 emails were ignored completely, I don't think that will happen.

I went ahead and called them just to see if I could get a different answer and the CSR wouldn't honor the promo either, so I just cancelled the order.

To be honest, I ordered Wall-E, Incredible Hulk, and Kung Fu Panda, and the price per movie wasn't really that great. It's more the principle of the thing now. It's frustrating to see people placing multiple orders and getting approved after I placed my only order.
