They'll win all their home games. It's all trash coming to South Bend. So that gets them to 6. They'll lose at USC. Navy is neutral - they'll win that for 7. That leaves 3 road games: UNC, Wash, and BC. Washington is awful, so that should be 8. So it basically comes down winning 1 at UNC or BC - certianly doable.
But you're right - they aren't good. However being good isn't a prerequisite for BCS inclusion. ;)
