I would like to read this book but I am curious if the theories have been debunked. (especially with the introduction of the LHC)

Does it still hold true today?

Considering it is about a particular theory that was (and still is) unproven (like all "theories"), I don't think "true" is word that can be applied to it.

If the past is any indicator, results of experiments with the LHC are more likely to raise more questions than prove or disprove anything.

Check it out at a local library and enjoy.

I recommend the book unreservedly. Experimental confirmation (or refutation) of string theory is not within our grasp presently, but the book is a very lucid exposition of what physicists are busy thinking about today.
