I just got Directv about 5 weeks ago and at that time I had Setanta Sports for a few days then it was blacked out for a month and now it's on again. Is this a pay channel or is it part of the Directv regional sports package ? Doesn't seem right that you would have to pay for it since GOLTV and Fox Sports Channel also show soccer.

At least you have the option to get it. I have cable and desperately want this channel, but it's only offered on satellite here in the states for now.

It's a pay channel. $14.95 a month.

I know the last 2 years they had a free preview for a couple weeks around the start of the EPL season.

Do people in England pay for ESPN? I could see paying for Setanta if they had exclusive rights to the EPL but games are shown elsewhere.

they usually air the better games of the week, so being a chelsea fan i don't get to see to many on fsc

Word is that ESPN is positioning itself to make a bid for the EPL, which is up for grabs starting in 2010. Now I doubt that ESPN would air every game on their current entities (how could they?). I have heard that Setanta could be in the mix, and that perhaps ESPN might purchase the channel. Just heresay for now.

There's no way ESPN is going to show more than a match a week, maybe two, unless Chel$ki and Manure Utd happen to be playing each other that week, in which case they'll just show that one. Anything more might cut into the poker.
