Need help for surround sound on my Toshiba HD-A30 & my Sony receiver.
Here is my setup:
Receiver: Sony STR720
HD-A30 Player
PS3
I have both my PS3 and my HD-A30 connected to my receiver via HDMI cables and then one out from my receiver to my set. I have both my PS3 and A30 set to deliver audio via PCM only. Now, when I turn on my PS3 and select it with the receiver the receiver always deliver the sound using the correct speakers. Now, when I play a movie using my HD-A30 it will only play the movie in 2 channel stereo although the track is a 5.1 HD track. I have to set the receiver to one of the Dolby settings to get a faux surround sound. I have tinkered with all of the settings in the actual audio menu of the HD player to no avail. Why will it not reproduce the surround sound like it should using PCM? Also, while watching something using my PS3 the receiver will not even allow me to change the type of audio output like it does while watching an HD-DVD. Is there anything else I can do to get the true sound? I'm tempted to just dust myself of all the HD-DVDs I've collected in the past year but it would be a shame to do so. Please help me! Thanks!!!
