From thedigitalbits.com

Sony has also set a pair of DVD box sets for release on 11/18. The other is a 17-disc Columbia Best Pictures Collection (SRP also TBA), that includes It Happened One Night (1934), You Can't Take It with You (1938), All the King's Men (1949), From Here to Eternity (1953), On the Waterfront (1954), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), Lawrence of Arabia (1962), A Man for All Seasons (1966), Oliver! What's with all of these massive studio sets lately? There was the United Artists collection, and the upcoming MGM/Fox musicals set.

Don't forget about the New Line set that came out last year. I saw that once at a Sam's and have never seen it again!

I actually just bought the new line set in the amazon marketplace new for 29.99. It is a really great set for that price. It has an exclusive documentary which I'm gonna watch tonight.

That's not a bad price for that set.

Well once you said that I went to Amazon and found another one for $30 too so I bought it. That's a damn good price. I want to see that documentary, I had forgotten about that. I own a few of the movies in that set, but I'll get rid of the ones I have for those and there are a few I haven't seen but wouldn't mind seeing, $30 ain't bad! Thanks!

I'm so glad that I looked at this topic. Like Monkees, I went over there, and found a new one for $29.99. Considering that Amazon's normal price is $246.99, that's not a bad deal at all.

I didn't post it in the bargains thread because I didn't know how many they had. I don't how this seller affords it but they shipped it to me by priority mail for the media price. If I did that at this price I'd be broke. I don't know if they do that for all of them though.

I don't see how they can afford it, either.

With that said, I'm not complaining for getting a 17 movie box set for 12% of the Amazon price...

Probably a dumb question, but how did Sony get the rights to put out "Monty Python's Meaning of Life" from Universal?

Reading my mind. Either they worked out a deal or (more likely) it's a misprint and they really meant And Now for Something Completely Different.

I think they probably worked out a deal. Still, I'm wondering if they are including the 1 disc or 2 disc version of the film.

Seeing as how it's a 6-Disc set, I'd assume the 2-Disc edition (I could see them dropping the CD if they go with the content from the Extraordinarily Deluxe Edition of Holy Grail, making that a 2-Disc set; along with the 2-Disc set of Life Of Brian).
