It was the tour right when You Could Have It So Much Better was released with Cut Copy and TV On The Radio opening for them.

Where did you see this line up? Sounds great! They were in D.C. with Death Cab for their last album. But I wasn't in town. Story of my life. I'm always missing great concerts when I'm traveling.

I saw it here in Vegas at the Hard Rock. Cut Copy was solid, but as I've said numerous times before, TV On The Radio sucks balls live. Their live performance can easily suck out all of the energy right out of the room (I've also seen them open for The Faint previously which was another snore fest from them).
When FF got on stage, it was phenomenal. Everybody was dancing and singing along. I think it also helped there were a lot of English tourists in the crowd to boot.
When they did their last tour with Death Cab, they missed Vegas, but played in Reno (fuck Reno).

Just curious. What is a vocal effect? Like Britney Spears??
I've read for the last 2 years they were doing a more dance like album.
Thankfully it's not what I feared. It sounds like anything off their first
two albums to me.

I saw them on that tour. FF were good, but they get very montonous after awhile. They should experiment a little with their live takes. Death Cab, who I don't enjoy as much were a much better live experience, at least to me, for taking their songs in some cool new directions.

I saw Franz preform this past Friday at a holiday concert with Bloc Party (meh -- great recordings, mediocre live), Carolina Liar (blech), and The Ting Tings (good).
A majority of the concert was material from their first two albums, but they played a sped-up version of Lucid Dreams plus two new songs that were more in tune with the first album.
It's too bad that a majority of the people were there for Bloc Party. While the band brought a lot of the energy, a good chunk of the audience wasn't receptive. There were a handful of us in the front dancing and singing along, but it seemed to piss off everybody around us who stood their lifeless. Fuck em if they came to a rock concert and didn't plan to be active.

FF and Bloc Party were co-headliners. Carolina Liar and Ting Tings both only had 20-minute sets. FF and Bloc Party both had 60-minute sets.
The crowd contained mostlybitches teenyboppers or stuck-up women. Then there was a good size group of us in the middle that just rocked out. I never met any of those people before and we were all high fiving one another at the end of the set.
The concert was held at The Joint over at Hard Rock and presented by Vegas' (only) indie rock radio station.

Re: New Franz Ferdinand
I like it better than the second album, but with a few exceptions (they practically go into Gary Numan synth territory with Lucid Dreams), it's still more or less rehashes of the same songs off the debut.

Re: New Franz Ferdinand
I haven't listened to the first 2 of their albums in a while, but this one sounded a lot more electronic/dance oriented to me. It was a bit jarring at first, but overall I found the album to be pretty good, if not somewhat forgettable.

They are!?

Well, I love the album. And "No You Girls" had better be a single.
Best track on the album and possibly their best song ever.

Re: New Franz Ferdinand
Where???
BTW, they are barely a blip on the radar in the U.K. anymore. Which is really sad. See the review below. It's true. They debuted on the UK charts at #2, then dropped like a stone. The album is something like #75 on amazon.co.uk's "hot" sales chart. And out only three weeks! I tell ya, those Brits are more fickle about bands and singers than us Yanks.
