I'm in the USAF stationed in England currently, and as such have a Panasonic DVD-S53 Player purchased from the Base Exchange that is factory-unlocked to play discs from any region. I've had no problem playing any NTSC/Region 1 discs from my collection purchased stateside, and no problem playing PAL/Region 2 discs I've purchased from British stores, until I tried playing the "House MD" Season 1-3 box set (http://www.zavvi.co.uk/house-House-MD-Seasons-1-3-Box-Set/800855/q.r10.1/p.jsf). Whenever I attempt to play these discs, I'm able to view the first episode on each disc fine even though it starts over two minutes into the episode. Whenever I try to play any other episode, I get a "no play" error on the DVD player and aren't able to view it... usually with it then going back to the first episode and playing it, starting at the same point over 2 minutes in the disc.
My DVD player manual states for the "no play" error it is either "you inserted a disc the unit cannot play, insert one it can.; you insterted a blank disc.; or you inserted a disc that has not been finalized."
This has really puzzled me, and I thought the discs themselves might be bad until I tried to play them in my (US) computer, where I was able to view all the episodes just fine after changing the region.
Does anyone know anything I could try to get these to work? I'd rather not watch them on my 15" laptop when I have my 37" LCD and upconverting player!
