Venturer HD-DVD Player (Rebranded Toshiba A3) + 2 movies for $59.99 shipped (Buy.com)

Buy.com has the Venturer SHD7000 HD-DVD player - which is a rebranded Toshiba HD-A3 - for $59.99. This price includes free shipping and two HD-DVD movies. Depending on which deal you want, you will get either 300 and Bourne Identity, or 2 randomly selected titles from Rumor Has It, Firewall, and Perfect Storm.

Option 1: SHD7000 + 300 + Bourne Identity
Linky: http://www.buy.com/prod/high-definit...209112684.html

Option 2: SHD7000 + 2 of Rumor Has It, Firewall, and Perfect Storm
Linky: http://www.buy.com/prod/high-definit...209113404.html

Note: The innards of the SHD7000 are the same as the HD-A3 - it even runs the same firmware and takes the same upgrades - but the outer shell differs from the original Toshiba. It's essentially an A3 in a different package.

Product Manual: http://www.1800customersupport.com/p...0_Venturer.pdf

Specs:
HD Output: 720p & 1080i
SD Upconversion Output: 480p, 720p & 1080i
Audio Output: DD, DD+, DD TrueHD, DTS, DTS HD(Core)
Video Jacks: Composite, Component
Audio Jacks: Analog 2ch, Digital Optical
Other: HDMI, Ethernet 10/100 (RJ45), USB (Expansion)
Dimensions (WDL): 16.9" x 2.4" x 13.0"
Wt: 7.3 lbs

The SHD7000 was sold for C$69.97 at Canadian Walmarts back in March. Here's the link to that old thread: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread.php?t=526568

EDITED TO ADD: Buy.com has a 5% off coupon you can use to knock $3 off (bringing the price down to $56.99) by linking through here first: http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074. And though I do not think it's stackable, you can opt instead for a 2.5% rebate by linking through Live.com.

If you need a backup HD-DVD player, they won't get much less expensive than this.

I'm surprised there is any new product available. How did these not get sold at blow out sales?

I ordered one. Good deal, I don't want to rely on my 360 HD-DVD drive.

I'll have to tell a friend of mine about this, he bought Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow and it won't play in his XBOX360 Drive. It did play in my HD-A3.

For $60 shipped I'll try HD-DVD for the first time at home or anywhere.

Hope I can get some HD-DVD's at my local pawn shops for
dirt cheap.

I been watching most of my DVD movies on A Oppo 971 player, which I been very happy with.

I also just order the Toshiba XD-E500 Upconverting 1080p
from Amazon.

I was under the impression these barely got out to Wal Mart before the rug was pulled out from under HD-DVD. Maybe there were containers of these ready to be shipped over when it all went down and they just got stuck somewhere in the supply system?

This looks good for $60 but if these are as buggy as the Toshibas I might be wasting my money.

Not all the Toshiba models were buggy, but my Dad's A3 certainly was.

Out of sheer curiosity, what would a bargain price be?

You Save: $240.00
Our Price: $59.99
Shipping: $9.71
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buy.com Total Price: $69.70

And you can still get 5% off by linking through here first: http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=84773074

Price, including discount and shipping, should be $66.70

I figured I'd grab one before it was too late. I used the $30 off for getting a Visa Card. If it works at all I suppose it's cheap insurance.

Please don't send me another copy of Firewall

If you get Firewall and I get The Perfect Storm I'll happily trade.

Heh, I passed on the 300 + Bourne Identity version since I already have both movies and have NONE of the other three. (Rumor Has It, Firewall, and Perfect Storm)

Of course, there's a reason why I don't have any of those three. -yack-

Of course here in NY the land of taxes, we have to pay internet sales tax on everything. So in addition to the shipping it was $6 in tax as well. You know, we pay over 8% sales tax on everything we buy, I pay income tax on my salary, I pay over $6000 a year in property tax on a $160,000 house and these f'ers really need my extra $6 on something I buy over the internet.

Mine supposedly shipped on 9/4 but the tracking number they provided shows up as invalid. We'll see if it actually arrives.

Maybe we should set up a trade thread for unwanted HD DVD titles that come in this dealio?

Exactly the same here. Shipped 9/4, invalid FexEx tracking #. Of course, right now I can't even get to the FedEx site.

By chance, does your tracking # end in 25677? Want to make sure we got different #s.
