Major Shakeup at NBC
You know it's bad when the the Network hates its new lineup.

interesting, because I actually think NBC has a better slate of shows than they did, say, even just a few years ago.

Well, the only shows that I think are going to be disasters are My Own Worst Enemy and possibly Crusoe. Not sure about that Kim and Kath thing. I actually think Knight Rider will do really well.
It's NBC's own damn fault for hiring an inexperienced TV Producer to run their network.

I think the money they shelled out to hire Slater and to shoot Crusoe on location in Europe are going to bite them in the ass.

There's only 5 new shows for their Fall lineup and probably only 1 will survive. Their midseason lineup doesn't look that good either.
I bet the NBC suits are probably puzzled why Silverman renewed Lipstick Jungle as well.
Also, when Friday Night Lights returns in February after it's Directv premiere, the ratings are probably going to suck.

Serves them right for axing Journeyman and Scrubs
Still I'm in for Heroes, Life, The Office, 30 Rock, My Name is Earl, Chuck and Knight Rider. May watch Crusoe but My Own Worst Enemy looks silly.

I find it amazing how much shit the studios throw to the wall every season, hoping that at least 1-2 of them stick.

Here's the problem that faces all the major over-air broadcast networks: thanks to cable TV, satellite TV, and easy DVD rentals the market for viewers can no longer count on a large viewership outside of a few shows. Shows that cater to a 18-to-45 audience--especially sports--will still command the audience beloved by advertisers, hence the reason why the ESPN family of networks are doing so well nowadays, especially during the football season.
I would highly recommend people read the chapter "De-massifying the Media" from Alvin Toffler's book The Third Wave. Even from the 1979 perspective, Toffler correctly predicted that as communications technologies improve the mass audience will stop being a mass audience, and given today's TV viewership choice that has become reality.

Journeyman needed more time to grow. I was unjustly canceled with the writers strike last year.
The only network TV I watch is on NBC and Fox to be honest. The Office, 30 Rock, and SVU. Then on Fox I catch House, Simpsons, Family Guy, and Sarah Conner.
So long as they keep Office, 30 Rock, and SVU I'll have no complaints.

Odd. NBC is the most watched network for me (I don't watch much tv though) with Heroes & The Office. I didn't read the whole article, but I always though NBC was okay. Maybe not.
That being said, their new shows look below average. Knight Rider looks tolerable, not sure about Kath & Kim. But My Own Worst Enemy looks like NBC's Own Worst Show.
I honestly don't care if they shake up everything, as long as The Office and maybe Heroes never move.

NBC should have gotten shows like Burn Notice, Monk, Psych etc instead of putting them on the USA network.
I think they should bid for the MLB package and take it away from FOX.
Joe Buck would have one less job.
the only major sports they have is the Olympics and Sunday Night Football.
I think NBC News is still top notch and 30 Rock and Heroes are good shows and SNL is good.

The shows on USA, for the most part, would do quite well if they were given Primetime weeknight slots and the proper promotion, as they get on USA. Monk, in particular, would kill with the same level of promotion that, say, 30 Rock gets. Burn Notice, though, I think would suffer a bit, because it would have to be altered to fit 'major network' standards, and I think it would lose it's campy edge, so leave it on USA and let us enjoy it there.

As much as I love Psych (and too a lesser extent Monk) they would have never survived past their first seasons if they were on a Primetime network (unless it was UPN/WB/CW). Even with tons of promotion...they just don't feel like shows with a ton of polish or production values.
