I think it was Charles Durning who grabbed a flare gun while on board a helicopter in The Final Countdown. It went off during a struggle and the helicopter was destroyed.

Congo has one. There's the scene where she shoots a flare gun out of an airplane so the heat seaking missles go after them. This is of course before the talking apes with lazer guns show up.

And not flaire gun, but t2 has the awesome scene where he just starts shooting and disabiling the armored cops and he uses something a lot like a flare gun. Don't know the name of it though.

You mean the grenade launcher? That ain't nothing like a flare gun.

Didn't a boat get blown up in Sahara with a flare gun?

Tremors.

Reba McEntire's character fires a flare into a Graboid's mouth. Doesn't kill it, but the sparks were great.

Doesn't Dennis Quaid dispatch one of the bad guys with a flare gun in The Big Easy? He shoots him through a hole in the deck of a yacht.

He probably means the scene with the gas-canister gun. This happens right after Ahnuld kneecaps a bunch of cops (a few minutes after the grenade launcher scene).

Homer Simpson shot down a helicopter with a flare gun, in the episode with Ernest Borgnine...

Ernest Borgnine, going for his pocket-knife that Home stole, to fight off a bear: "I'll just pull out my trusty...uh...eh...oh..."

This was odd enough for me to remember:

The Squeeze (1987) with Michael Keaton.

Saw it on TV, likely in '90 or something, but there is a scene, during the climax, where Keaton and the main bad guy are on the deck of a defunct battleship. Bad guy has a gun and is looking for Keaton. Keaton gets the drop on him from behind a big deck gun (a 50mm or something, small enough to be fired by one man and on a rotating pedestal).

He aims the big gun at the bad guy and then fires... a flare. Keaton fired a flare gun through the big barrel.

Anyway, the flare hits him and I think he goes toppling over the edge or something... I forget.

The movie was about some Lottery scam, I believe. But it was the incongruous image of a flare sputtering out of that massive barrel that I remember.

I'm not sure if it happened in the movie version, but I know someone gets shot with a flare gun in the book The Tommyknockers.

In JAWS 2,

the water-skiier's driver tries to use a flare-gun to kill Bruce, the 50-foot great-white shark. But she only succeeds in setting him on fire and scarring his face.

It's been a while since I saw it, but I believe that
Spoiler:
Wallace's dessert order for Bananas Foster culminates in a flare gun accident that kills his dinner companion, whose name escapes me at the moment,
in the 1981 film by Louis Malle, My Dinner With Andre.
