DVD Talk review of 'U-571' (Blu-ray)
I read Ryan Keefer's DVD review of U-571 at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=34411 and...
I have a problem with this portion of the review:
"Sometimes I wish that Universal would cast aside the VC-1 and give their catalog titles the treatment they deserve, but it's a retrospect complaint, as U-571 looks excellent."
Either Ryan is biased or uninformed, because for Blu-ray VC-1 is equally as capable as AVC/MPEG4 and more capable than MPEG2.

Another thing, when compared A/B direct to the HD DVD using direct screencaps from AVSFORUM, it is clear Universal's new Blu-ray master of U-571 has significantly more DNR applied resulting in less fine detail (and less natural film grain) than the original HD DVD. As I don't have HD DVD in my home theater, I wish that Universal had simply stuck with the original HD DVD master for the Blu-ray rather than delivering us one that had DNR applied!
It might be worth mentioning the additonal DNR in the review so buyers are aware.
