Elvira: Mistress of the Dark weird DVD
Knowing that the DVD is pretty much barebones and also does not include 4:3 version I was surprised to find out that the disc is double sided DVD-10. I played the other side and the only thing that was recorded on it is the TV test pattern, accompanied by the high-pitched tone. The volume label of that side of the disc is "CINRAM_TEST_DVD".

Just checked mine. It's double-sided, just like yours, and the reverse plays the test pattern. I just bought it this year from a B1G1 OR B2G1 sale from DD, it is the Anchor Bay product. Goofy.

Did this disc have any label on it? I've gotten several 1-sided discs that have color bars on the label side, with the label printed over it. I cleaned one off with alcohol and it played. Most of them have "DVD BLANK" stamped in the center.
Most of the earlier single-layer titles made by Warner (WAMO) had the movie repeated on both sides, with one side covered by the label. A REALLY weird occurrence was on discs from the defunct Simitar label- a number of those have a movie called "Time Under Fire" on the label side- if you can see "136 POWER" stamped in the middle then that's what's on there.
This harkens back to the early DiscoVision laserdisc releases, where unused sides would be test pressings of other titles or sometimes General Motors sales discs. They'd coat the side with something to make it unplayable, but rubbing alcohol takes it right off. I have a CAV copy of "Three Days Of The Condor" whose last side is a CLV test-pressing of Side 2 of "Bullitt", which was never released commercially on the DiscoVision label.

There's a still-frame on unused sides of discs made by FutureMedia, usually marked as "FM/CA". This one was Trimark's "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" which has a printed label just around the center like on a 2-sided disc.

I've got the Anchor Bay version that I bought from Amazon.com and it is 2 sided and also does the same test thing on the blank side..weird but I dont mind as I am not worried about it because that side isnt' supposed to be put in and played anyway just the movie side.

My disc is double sided as well. I'm sure AB just cheaped out in later pressings to save money or something(if it ever had disc art originally). Lionsgate did this with some title as well. Where instead of disc art. The 'art' side of the disc is just white with plain boring small text of the film title.

I think this was put out as a double-feature disc with another movie on the other side- might be where that center label came from, odd they made discs with that and the test pattern on side 2.
