Worst John Carpenter picture

ESCAPE FROM LA, mostly because of its wasted potential. I understand that even the original film had a huge satirical slant, but the awful sequel went into full-on farce.

Blecch.

Escape from L.A., easily. It's the exact same film, just with different cast members and a much weaker premise. Once Snake started surfing I sunk into my theater seat with embarassment.

After the basketball sequence, I gave up all hope. But you are correct about it being the EXACT SAME MOVIE. They didn't even TRY to do something different.

I just took your word for it and voted for Escape from L.A.

Actually, I haven't seen most of the ones in the poll. I avoid bad movies if at all possible.

I voted Vampire$ since he butchered the original material so much so the author has said there is a good chance you will never see another piece of his material made into film as a result of the movie.

People really look at Christine as one of Carpenter's worst movies? I loved the Stephen King novel, as well as the movie.

Hated Christine, but I loved Prince of Darkness. Different strokes, I guess...

Whoa, whoa, whoa... What's up with the hate for Prince of Darkness going on in here? I find it to not only be Carpenter's most underrated film, but also one of the most underrated horror films ever. It's incredibly creepy, very atmospheric, features some great performances and has the ultimate villain taking on numerous forms. I love it.

Like I hate Ghosts of Mars and Vampires, but Memoirs of an Invisible Man is a fucking awful movie.

Vampires.

At least Kurt Russell is still entertaining in Escape from LA.

As cheesy-bad as Ghosts of Mars and Escape from L.A. are, I'll take either of those any day over the dreary, lifeless Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

Ghosts of Mars. Unwatchable. The rest all have some small redeeming factor...but he has made some SHIT movies in the span of his career.

As sappy as Starman is and as average as Prince of Darkness and Christine are, they are absolute masterpieces compared to Ghosts of Mars, Escape from LA or Vampires. What's with the inclusion of Dark Star? For a low budget, debut feature that started off as a student film, one could do a hell of a lot worse.

Surprised to see the dislike for Ghosts of Mars -- I thought that was a solid Carpenter flick.

I voted Memoirs...
