Which Blu-Ray titles don't use the Blue Blu-Ray cases that often don't match the cover art? When will this be phased out? HD-DVD is gone. Will we have to wait until DVDs are gone so people don't get confused?

I tried to search for a similar topic but it's hard to find the right keywords.

I have yet to buy any Blu-Ray so all I can think of now is Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Warner Brothers is using Digi-books for Bonnie & Clyde, Dirty Harry, Natural Born Killers, & the upcoming Poltergeist and JFK blu-rays. My guess is they'll be using these cases for a good while yet to not confuse the public.

I believe the Dirty Harry BD Collection are also not in Blu cases

The Discovery Atlas releases were in digipaks that were about as tall as DVD cases.

I like the blue cases myself - never liked the red.

I think the cases will always be blue for the most part.

One of Image's Discovery Channel releases -- Fearless Planet, I think it was -- was released in a transparent white case instead of the usual blue.

Wings of Honneamise came in a keepcase. I'm like the only proud owner of that marvelous film here.

I think eventually we may see some releases in that clear case, similar to the PS3 game case.

I like the blue cases. I think they look cool. I have seen an online retailer that sells black cases of the same size. The bonus disc of the Ultimate Matrix collection HD DVD was glossy black.

I like the red cases better than the blue ones, waiting for the inevitable green cases though.

But I really don't like the Warner "book" style cases - I'll live with whatever color, just keep them uniform. Wonder what Criterion will do...

I like the blue thin packs. I loathe what Warner is doing with their new BD releases since they occupy almost the same space as a regular keepcase DVD. After 1000 DVDs, I want some shelf space and both BD and HD cases are perfect.

Sony's logo campaign has been the color blue. I doubt studios will change the color of the cases. Single cases that is.

They'll eventually be all over the place as far as style. The same thing happened with DVD. Most were in the nice black clamshells and then everyone put them in any kind of case.

I prefer the red of HD DVD as it made them look more classy. The blue just seems a bit too kiddy and bright.

I like the blue, as well as the short and thin quality. I bought a SD DVD the other day (was not, nor will not ever be BD, I suspect), and the black, large nature of it made me gasp.

I dont care what color case they are in - just as long as there is a 1080p logo on display within it.

But as someone mentioned above - I am kinda curious to see what Criterion is going to poop their stuff out in.

I really like the packaging of multi-disc sets like "Blade Runner," "Lost Season 3," "Nip/Tuck," and "Sarah Connor Chronicles"

Although "Blade Runner" looks a little funky next to other regular blu-rays.

Agree with the OP. The blue color looks especially cheesy with the majority of cover art out there. Enough with the blue already - blue cases, blue players, blue lasers, Blue...err Blu in the actual name ...Jesus, we get it already!

And what's with the odd size? I can appreciate the space-saving design of the reduced width that's more akin to the digipacks, but why the shorter height? They look just plain odd next to DVDs and it's hard to read the titles on the spines from across a room.


And bring on more of the collectible packaging already!

I actually like the blue blu-ray cases. For some reason they just seem more special to be that way. And I also like that they are a different shape/size because that way you can tell them apart from the regular DVDs easier.

Plus you have to think about it from Joe Shom's point-of-view, who would get really confused if the blu-ray's he can't play and the SD DVD he wants are in a very similar case.
