New Blu-ray player won't play on new tv

I just bought Panasonic's DMP-BD50 and a Mitsubishi WD-65835 tv. I have the blu-ray player plugged in and when the player is on I get a blue blu-ray screen. The disc I am trying to play is beowulf region 1. When I press play it says loading, stops disc and the blu-ray screen appears again. I have heard of this problem but can't seem to recall what settings I need to look for on my TV or player. I guess it has to do with the copy protection. It is hooked up by HDMI to the TV.
Thanks..

Have you updated the firmware?

If you get the bluray screen, then you get video, just no playback.

Do regular DVDs work?

I'd say you have a disc-player issue, not TV-player. Check firmware first. Maybe search the HD forum here or over at AVS for Beowulf issues.

Also, try other discs.

I checked panasonic.net/support/ and the only update was for europe on july 1st. I checked my other non-Paramount movies and they worked fine.

Yeah that. I had the exact same type of problem with Corpse Bride and HDDVD player. It wouldnt recognize the disc. It just happened to be that the first disc I ever bought was a bad disc.

Then it's not that your player won't work on your TV. The movie won't work in your player.

This problem first showed up for me with "The Ruins" and I found that if I go into the SETUP menu <Setup-TV/Device Connection-HDMI Connection> and turn-off 24p output Beowulf will play fine otherwise I experienced the same issue.

The other solution is to turn off whichever device (TV or Receiver) your HDMI cable is going into - load Blu-Ray disc and then turn on the device, you can watch in 24p.

Hope this helps folks.
