Dish Network Turbo HD??
So, I have DN, and a VIP622 DVR.
I see DN touting their new 1080P turbo HD.
I see no way to set my box as 1080P, as I have only had the 720P or 1080i for now. I just checked.
Is my equipment outdated, or will some sort of update make it work?
i don't understand how they say they have (compressed) 1080P, but their boxes won't display it.

I saw the web site propaganda, but it didn't explain much.
Further web searching showed I haven't gotten a software update.
It also says nothing about if the upgrade will allow 1080P from my VIP622 DVR.
I will check out the other thread.
Thanks for all your help Salty!

From what I have found, if you don't have channel 501, you don't have the firmware upgrade yet.

I have the very old Dish 80GB DVR with America's Top100. I am thinking of switching over to the Silver TurboHD which basically offers all the channels that I watches.
Question is since the HD DVR receiver can support 2 TVs, does that mean 2 coaxial cables will be going to the receiver? 1 from the dish and another to the second TV? Reason I am asking is because where my TV is now in the living room, the coaxial cable is hiding inside the floor/wall. It will not be doable to run another cable.

Probably a lot more doable than you think. The old wire can usually be used to pull the new right through. I don't know, maybe it would even be included in the installation. It would be with DirecTV.
I believe you need 2 coax from the dish to your receiver. Then whatever output to the TVs. If you want HD at the TVs, you'll need something better than coax run, anyway.

OK, another dumb question which the Dish Network Live Help don't seem too helpful. I have the America's Top 100. There are many channels I don't care for. The TurboHD Silver package fits my need. Now, If I get the TurboHD only and dump my America's Top 100, what will happen say Food Network is not broadcasting an HD show, will the Food Network HD channel be blank?

I don't have Dish, but I think I can confirm that it will be sent in HD to you full time, 24/7. But the channels will not have HD 24/7. It will actually be UPconverted and sent to you in HD resolution with side bars, it just won't actually be HD.
I'm watching the Olympics right now, many Turbo HD commercials. Course, if they bothered to send NBC the commercial in HD, it would be a much better sale.

I have HD (non-turbo, normally aspirated) and only have Food Network HD on my list. I doesn't go blank, otr not show anything. I am pretty sure a few months ago it switched to mirror exactly what is on the SD channel.
I haven't dealt with switching yet, as I have been busy with other crap.
As for the splitting for 2 receivers, there is things that can be don. My upstairs has 2 tuners. 1 feed comes in, gets split, and then the second channel is converted to a seperate frequency and sent back through the same coax.
I DO NOT think you would be able to get 2 HD sources from the same box. I believe 1 will be HD, the other SD.
