Australian Censorship
This video speaks for itself. Obviously I don't have a vested interest in this as a non-Australian, but it is certainly a cause I can get behind should anyone ask my opinion
I think it does go a long way to show the general ignorance people have on the subject and just rely on what they're fed by the media (or perhaps in this case constituents) or just the general idea that games are for kids or whatever.
Anyway...
Edit: Here's the source blog entry with commentary from a Australian with a bit more knowledge on the subject than me or anyone in the video: http://www.twilightlynk.com/2008/08/...-this-country/

The bald guy seemed to be the only one on the panel with any common sense and that's what this is really about. They admit that the average gamer age is over 30. They admit kids will get the games anyway. They admit that there should be appropriate ratings. 1 +1 +1 = ban
Very strange panel.
from your link:
Sounds a bit hypocritical to me. At least in the US he could play Fallout 3.
Very strange panel.
from your link:
In extreme circumstances I’d move out of Australia because of their total asshattery but then where would I go? The US? Ha, (no offense to anyone) I’d rather be dead then live in the US… so I guess I’m stuck here in a country so afraid of everything that it bans a game like Fallout 3 because they’re afraid everyone will suddenly get hopped up on drugs and start killing people.
I think this entire thing stems from people being afraid of what they don’t understand, which is very encouraging in a multicultural country where the idea is to understand people of other cultures. Well, this is my culture, and I’d rather people took the time to understand at least a small part of my culture and that we’re not out to destroy your culture.

Yeah, I almost emphasized his first 2 paragraphs
But, I'm not going to judge him based on that. His commentary on the issue was what was important, especially about the fact there is a ratings system, just not a "Mature" tier.
