Jacques Demy - Complete works

Arte Video and Cine Tamaris are apparently set to release Jacques Demy's entire output on DVD in France, including his shorts. The street date is November 5th.

Content:
*Lola
*Model Shop
*La baie des anges
*Les parapluies de Cherbourg
*Les demoiselles de Rochefort
*Peau d’âne
*Une chambre en ville
*La naissance du jour
*Lady Oscar
*Le joueur de flûte de Hamelin
*L’évènement le plus important depuis que l’homme a marché sur la lune
*Parking
*Trois places pour le 26

+ shorts
Will be watching closely to see whether or not English subs appear.

Thanks for the heads-up, Pro-B.

This looks very tempting, although price will ultimately determine whether I pick this up (and I sense it could be a pretty expensive Arte set). Looking at the list, I have 6 of those titles on DVD (plus a rickety old VHS of Trois places..., a film which I'd virtually given up on for a DVD release, but which doesn't really count), so I really only need half the set. I wonder if standalone releases will follow?

Great news, in any case.

On a related note, I bought Varda's Jacquot de Nantes at the weekend and inside it there's a double-sided card advertising the Demy collection coming soon and on the other side it also says the complete Varda is coming soon.

I have a hunch the Demy (and Varda) box will come with English subs as Ciné-Tamaris have included English subs on all their releases that I know of, which has to bode well. Ciné-Tamaris always seem keen to make their titles attractive beyond the Francophone world (the current batch of Varda releases all have Eng subs, and some also have either German or Spanish in addition), so I do think there's a high chance these upcoming sets will include English subs...

According to the most recent post in this thread on the Criterion forum, the set will include English subs on the films but not the extras.
