I watched this a couple of times in the 70's, but it wasn't never a favorite of mine.

Michael Douglas/Karl Malden police classic to get a fresh spin

Karl Malden and Michael Douglas of 'The Streets of San Francisco'
Who are this generation's Michael Douglas and Karl Malden? CBS hopes to find out.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS is developing a contemporary take on "The Streets of San Francisco."
Sheldon Turner ("The Longest Yard") and Robert Port ("Numb3rs") will script the update. CBS has already secured Simon West ("Con Air") to direct the pilot.
The original "Streets of San Francisco" aired on ABC from 1972-77.
Malden played Lt. Mike Stone, a veteran San Francisco cop paired with fresh-faced partner Steve Keller (Douglas) to investigate crimes through the Homicide Detail of SFPD's Bureau of Inspectors.
For their work on the series, Douglas picked up three Emmy nominations and Malden four. "The Streets of San Francisco" even picked up an outstanding drama series nomination in 1974, losing to "Upstairs, Downstairs."
The property was resurrected for "Back to the Streets of San Francisco," a telefilm that aired on NBC in 1992.
The HR story says CBS plans to keep the names of the two main characters, as well as the San Francisco backdrop.

I nominate the following:
For Stone:
Craig T. Nelson
David Morse
Gerald McRainey
Michael Keaton
Keller could be played by a number of young actors.
There is no way CBS shoots this in San Francisco....maybe only the pilot. They will fake it in Los Angeles.

Wouldn't it be sweet if Michael Douglas agreed to do the pilot and maybe show up a couple times a year?
Better yet, how about Cameron Douglas as the young cop?
