Looks like cloning is an integral part of the story - I wonder if they'll reveal the cylonis learned the cloning and used that to create the 12 modela of cylon we now know and love (well, we know 11 of them).

since I distinctly heard "she's still a machine" why are they so shocked that the cylons have skin jobs 40 years later?

So this is supposed to take place 50 years before Battlestar from all the stuff I've read. How old is Bill Adama supposed to be here 10?
I'm intrigued by the premise and I like Esai Morales and Eric Stoltz as the leads. I will definitely check this out.

I got all excited when i saw the massive fleet of starships , then it turned out to be a commercial for a crummy Stargate movie.
Looks too talky. Bring on the chrome toasters!

LOL at you guys. Doesn't anybody remember that old thread from 2003 when the nuBSG miniseries was in the works, and everybody was crucifying it. Then it got bumped after the miniseries where a bunch of folks were saying "well, it wasn't that bad"? And then during the first season when everybody was tripping over themselves to praise BSG?
Geez folks, at least give it half the chance you gave BSG. Who knows, we might get at least a couple of seasons of interesting storytelling in the Moore/BSG-verse.

I love me some Eric Stoltz and I love me some BSG. I'm not sure about this project, however, as it appears to be extremely contradictory to what we (currently) know about the universe. I'm all for giving it a fair shake, though, but reserve the right to dismiss its existence entirely.

I agree I don't know why everyone here is making the assumption this project is going to suck. Just because there are no toasters and space dog fights, it doesn't mean this series is going to be boring.
Keep in mind, this is 50 years in the past and is setting up everything that will transpire in the Battlestar Universe.
I'm actually interested in learning more about the Adama family's background. I think Esai Morales is an interesting choice to play Bill's Pop.

I want to believe. Goodness knows, I'm one of the minority around here in still loving BSG with no reservations and excited for the conclusion.
But didn't we learn from Enterprise that scifi prequels are a stupid f'kng idea?
What's the thrill and suspense in just watching something dovetail (poorly and inconsistently) into an already known future? Retcon is not exciting.

Okay, I still don't get this wholesale dismissal of prequels. Both ST Enterprise and the SW prequels had really great ideas, they were just both coincidentally hamstrung by poor writing. The thrill and suspense from watching something you know the ending to, comes from the journey, not the destination. I could ask what's the point of making movies about World War 2 or the American Civil War, since we know how those ended.
In that vein, Enterprise could have been excellent if they had just showed the Romulan war from the beginning. Seeing all the sacrifice and bloodshed that went into fighting the Romulans would have made for good drama. Same for the SW prequels, the Clone Wars should have started at the end of Ep1, if not been already ongoing when Ep 1 started. Show us Anakin as a good guy, with his BFF Obi Wan, but as the war takes his toll on him, he starts to make poor choices.
And also, a bit coincidentally, both the final season of ENT and the third prequel movie started to show us what we were wanting to see all along. I think that alone proves it's not the concept, but the execution.
I will grant you that if you don't have good writers, you're not going to get a good show, but that goes for anything.
I certainly think Caprica is different enough that I already doubt it's going to be like Galactica 1980. Who knows, it might even end up being the DS9 to BSG's TNG.

From the stuff I've read online, this is only a 2-hour TV movie and not a full fledged series yet.

I'll absolutely tune in for this - and if it keeps my attention w/ good acting and writing, I'll stick around.
