only 2 hdmi in's I will need at least 3 once I get everything I want.

if all my equipment already outputs 1080i would I need up-scaling in a receiver??
Also my current Kenwood all-in-one speaker conectors are just open wire that goes in to a pinch in the receiver. Will these open wires work with this Denon? I think so but I'm not sure.

also if I have cable going thru the receiver, does the receiver HAVE to be on to get picture & sound from the TV?

The 988 is basicaly the same as 2808 I THINK the only difference is the remote
The Circuit City website now has it with 10% with coupon code 8MAJTZLA9L.
I just picked mine up. It cost a grand total of $620.06.
Its $680 at amazon now.

We ended up going with Denon's 3808 after auditioning many AVR's including HK. We are very happy with our choice but you will have to listen for yourself since what we like may not be the same :D. Can't go wrong with either.
