Jack is Back! in 24:Exile (Rough Cut of 2-hour prequel trailer)

Found this online today. It's a rough cut of the trailer. The voice-over guy is obviously a temp track. Some of the scenes are missing sound effects and all the graphics appear to be temp graphics. But, hell it's something 24-related until November comes.

Nice to see:

Spoiler:

Peter MacNichol and Powers Boothe return for the prequel

Agreed. They were the best parts of Season 6.

Forget the Jack Bauer v. Jack Shepard threads... bring on the Jack Bauer vs. John Rambo threads!

prequel? It's not a prequel. It's the 1st two fucking hours of the show.

As far as I know, it's a "TV-movie" bridge between Seasons 6 and 7. It is not the first two hours of Day 7.

It's definitely not the 1st 2 hours. Goldberg is correct. This is a standalone 2 hour film to bridge the long gap between season 6 and 7. It does however introduce characters that will be part of season 7.

According to Jon Cassar's web site, he mentions the film came in about 15 minutes too long. It says he's working on edits to make it fit network running time with commercials. I would expect a director's cut of this film on DVD at some point.

Maybe the Director's Cut would have Jack uttering more than "dammit" all the time.

Don't worry. If past seasons are any indication, she won't last very long. I don't know which is the more dangerous gig: Spinal Tap drummer or POTUS on 24.

I read a few weeks back on Dark Horizons, I believe, that this would be the first two hours of the season. The initial speculation of a total of 26 hours of 24 this year was wrong.

Here is the link and the text: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/080625l.php

Looks like those keen on extra "24" next season will be sadly disappointed.

Premiere interviewed actor Robert Carlyle who stars in the two hour prequel to air this Fall and he revealed that it won't be a separate movie after all - rather it will count as the first two episodes of the new season.

"This two hours is two hours in real time and there'll then be 22 episodes. I don't know how they connect it to the first of those 22 episodes but it's literally the third hour" he says.

Carlyle says he plays Carl Benton, Jack Bauer's former best friend whom he hasn't seen for a decade. "Jack's on his travels and he comes to see Carl and hang out with him and potentially change his life. Maybe."

Shooting of his scenes took place in South Africa's Stellenbosch region which doubled for jungle in the fictional country of Sangala.

Looks good. I have a hard time believing that the prequel ties into the 24 hr block. They'll have had over 18 months and can't turn out an extra 2 episodes? Really?

I was surprised to see the actor
Spoiler:
John Voight
in the trailer. I didn't know he was going to have a roll in the upcoming season, maybe I just missed it.

Is the character
Spoiler:
Tony Almedia
still scheduled to return? They didn't scrap that storyline, did they?

This is what I was referencing. Is this not correct information?

Wow...that voiceover. When that car exploded at the end, I expected, "BOOM goes the dynamite!"
