HDTV Help

I just bought a '47 1080 Vizio and I have a normal dvd player and I am wondering what my best options would be to get the best picture possible from dvds on my new tv. My dvd player is old and doesn't have HDMI inputs however im getting the component cables for my 360 tomorrow, would that help the picture quality of my dvds if I played them on my 360? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are you getting component cables instead of an HDMI cable?

I ended up getting an HDMI cable and a new dvd player that upconverts to 1080i. Hopefully I made the right choice.

Depends on the player, and how much you spent on it.
