That's an easy one. This has not only always been my favorite movie from the year I was born, it has always been one of my all-time favorite movies, period:

Forbidden Planet

If you want to call it your favorite film, that's all well and good. Referring to Empire Strikes Back as the best film released during a year which also gave is Raging Bull is just plain silly.

I liked Caddyshack better than both of those.

Nope. Raging Bull is a great movie but a tad overrated imo. I would put it at #2 of that year. Maybe we should start a poll!

ST: Wrath of Khan. Although, I actually enjoyed the third more.

I used to love E.T. but it lost its magic.

I have not watched Blade Runner yet but if I had, I suppose it'd be my top film for 82.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles, no question. My favorite comedy ever, and one of the few movies that dares moving me to tears even if it doesn't exactly happen.

Other favorites:

RoboCop
Lethal Weapon
Evil Dead II
The Lost Boys
Raising Arizona
Angel Heart
Wall Street
Barfly
Prince of Darkness
A Better Tomorrow II
