Batman - Gotham Knight not so good. :(

I was lucky enough to preview the film. I say this only because I can now save my money and cancel my pre-order. Overall I was highly disappointed with this release (which was shorter than I had expected at 1 hour and 15 minutes including credits). Most of the vignettes were dull and uninspired. The best one was only moderately interesting. Also the picture quality was lacking, and during dark scenes there were weird blinking streaks of pixels.

I'm a huge Batman fan and this was just not there. It seemed out of touch with the things that make Batman interesting. It felt highly influenced by the east, but the problem is that this is not a eastern Superhero. These vignettes felt lost in translation. For those who still aren't convinced by my mini review I'd highly suggest a rental before a purchase..

I just picked it up (Borders had it out early), so I'll be back tomorrow with a run down.

This animated feature was written by the US producers. I know it's supposed to be a tie-in with the Dark Knight. I'm only getting because I'm a fan of Kevin Conroy's Batman. Hopefully blu-ray doesn't have any minor video problems.

Sorry to hear you guys didn't like it. It's certainly not for everyone but I actually loved it (as much, if not more than the Animatrix). My only real beef with the show itself is that it's way too short for its own good. These bits definitely needed more time but taken as is they are a nice play on the Batman character from Japanese animation houses.
