DVD Talk review of 'Mad Men - Season One'

I read Jeffrey Kauffman's DVD review of Mad Men - Season One at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=33696 and...i'm highly intrigued. didn't even catch a minute when it was on, but if it is as smartly written as for my money one of the smartest series' ever in "The West Wing" i would more than likely pick this up.

you did mention in the ratings that this has little replay value. i look for that in series' and movies i buy, especially in series. this has very little replay huh?

also, highly intrigued by this "Zippo" packaging. is it like a metal/tin case that opens like a zippo? and how are the dvd's packaged inside?

thanks again Jeff for a good review.

Hi, Scott--I get a lot of questions about my "replay" scores (or whatever you want to call them, LOL) on my reviews. What I typically say is I am not one to rewatch something unless it really has something to offer me on a second or third go-round. So judge accordingly. Mad Men is certainly rewatchable, if only for its production design. I will say that this has less on-the-surface drama than "The West Wing," (no terrorists, no re-election campaigns, etc.), especially in the early episodes.

The Zippo thing opens at the top on a hinge, just like a regular lighter. The DVDs are packaged in a nice foam contraption that "splays" them out, one above the other, so that they're easily retrieved.

Yep, tin, as far as I can tell.
