I survived a Japanese Game Show-- Series Discussion--Tuesday's on ABC
Did anyone here watch or DVR this last night after Wipeout? I know it was on the same time as Hell's Kitchen and chances are most of you probably watched HK instead.
It's ironic that this show is actually from the same production team as HK and they are competing against each other.
Anyways, I thought the premiere was actually damn entertaining. That game show was pretty damn wacky. I've actually been to Tokyo 2 times and that type of game show is pretty normal for the folks over there.
Anyways, I like the Green Team so far. The one that stands out for me is Meaghan Damn! I do like Donnell's energy, but I have a feeling he's going to lose some steam as the weeks progress.
I was laughing my ass off at the Mochhi balls challenge.
This and Wipeout were 2 pretty entertaining hours of TV last night.

Yeah I think people will either like this show or absolutely hate it. I think it's wackiness may not be for everyone. I've seen Japanese game shows before, so I found it entertaining. I also like that it's actually shot on location in Japan......I travel the world yearly and I've been to Japan a few times and have an appreciation for the country and culture.

The game show was lame, they could have edited it a lot more and had them do 3 or 4 different games. Plus why not have them competing at the same time? The team going second gets to watch the first team in the green room so they have an advantage. I'll still check it out next week, hopefully it will improve.

I laughed my ass off at the end, with the Hulk "walking away"-style music for the girl wearing the ridiculous bug outfit (walking away, in slow mo).
Show is stupid, but I kind of enjoy it. Having seen Japanese game shows, I was hoping for slightly goofier, but still fun.

It started out openly racist against Japan, but then it morphed into making fun of the Americans.
I got the feeling that none of the contestants knew the history of Toho.
The show was a wierd mix of Wipeout, The Apprentice, and the Incredible Hulk.
I'll watch Wipeout again, but not this.

I thought it was awesome! Very entertaining, unique, and looked great in HD.
I loved how it combined a game show with a reality show; this way we get to see more of the contestants dealing with the wackiness and culture shock behind the scenes. Good casting, no one is annoying.
The reality host is HOT. More of him please.
I was laughing the one guy (Justin?) saying he was running like the T-1000.
I had a big goofy grin on the entire time I watched this.

8M viewers and a 3.1 18-49 demographic is actually really good. I'm shocked that it actually beat Hell's Kitchen......they are from the same producers.
I think it will definitely finish it's season.

I'll be treating this like I do all reality shows -- PVR it to watch later then skip through all the commercials and "interesting" contestant comments and relationships. Works out to be about a 15 minute show.

Just caught it on ABCs website. I thought it was really good. I like that they are putting this and Wipeout together... as you get the full gameshow aspect with Wipeout and then you get a mix of game and reality show with this one. I'm definately adding the season to my DVR record list.

I actually liked this quite a lot more than I expected to. I thought it was going to suck. On the other hand, I didn't like Wipeout. It seemed more like a bad version of Ultimate Banzuke.

Caught the last few minutes of it tonight (a rerun, I guess). Looks decent, but the guy fell in the water, and he was allowed to continue. WTF? He was trying to beat the other guy's time, and when he didn't the "winner" did some obnoxious little victory dance. The thing I enjoy most about Ninja Warrior is the contestants (well, the serious ones) are competing against themselves. They all support each other and are happy when one wins, even if they've already lost. And sometimes, nobody wins.
I guess it's just a cultural thing, but it's refreshing to see a contest where the contest is important, not just winning and losing. I'll probably watch Wipeout again, though. The course does look challenging and interesting.

TomEHto, TomAHto.
Ninja warrior is a step above ultimate banzuke, but none of these ejits (in Wipeout) would really be able to compete at that level. It seemed as if they just picked a random bunch of people off of the street to compete at this. It got old really fast.
