yes, at the AFI Silver, the films might toggle between auditioriums 1 (the largest and best of the two) and 2 from July 4 to Sept 4 - there are quite a few midnight showings, there are least two screenings of each movie - don't worry I'll post the times.

I own 9 of those (it'll be 10 when "Fabulous Stains" is released shortly). So, if anyone wants to come over, we can have own 80's film fest.

It doesn't really matter if you see this movie on the big screen or not. This is especially true if they don't play the extended cut. Aliens was never given a proper state-of-the-art remastering to take advantage of today's cinemas. For example, Blade Runner:Final Cut and even the first Alien:Special Edition cut.

Giles - do you have a silver membership/"friends of the theater" or whatever they call it?

I didn't see July's schedule posted yet - much less the rest of the summer.

what the hell does that mean? the theatrical cut while no where as thorough as the extended cut, it maybe shorter and streamlines the story more, but to say it's not worthy of todays cinemas seems shortsighted. As I understand it, Fox released this film in 70mm/6-track sound which was state of the art at the time, Dolby Digital or any of the other three digital 5.1 soundsystems weren't yet produced. The only remastering done for the extended cut was that: previousily deleted scenes reinstated back into the film's storyline and everything involved with intergration of new sound fx/music cues for the director's cut soundmix.

after all that was said - I would assume this theatrical outing will be the theatrical cut - oh well... can't have everything can you?
