The Fratellis - Here We Stand (6/10/08)

The much anticipated follow-up to The Fratellis debut "Costello Music". Like it's predecessor, "Here We Stand" has a great melodic sense and funny heartfelt lyrics, rounded out with excellent production and ear-grabbing vocals. "Costello Music" has scanned nearly 150,000 units in the US and over one million units in the UK to date. "Costello Music" was also a critical and licensor's favorite in 2007, including most notably an iTunes campaign, among many other placements. Throughout the fi rst album campaign, every time the band came to the US their audience increased dramatically (NYC concert attendance went from Mercury Lounge to Roseland in only 5 months, band was highlight of SXSW and Coachella).

I really liked their first one. I wonder what this one will bring. Has anyone heard it?

It's been leaked and I just listened to it. It didn't grab me immediately like their debut did (which I love); the hooks don't seem as catchy. But I think it's good enough and I'm sure I'll be playing certain songs repeatedly over the summer.

Thanks Giles. I picked it up at BB for 7.99 and I'm digging it. I liked Costello Music too, but I think I might like Here We Stand more.

Glad you are enjoying it too! I would love to see these lads play live. I hope they come to Nashville sometime. Looks like they are only playing NYC, L.A., and S.F. in June.

Six months later and my opinion's the same (I like Costello Music better). But Here We Stand did grow on me.

So, is the recently released Deluxe Edition only available as an import? And, if so, is the DVD R2 or region free?

I merely "previewed" the first edition, but wouldn't mind at all shelling out some cash for this, seeing as how it includes a full concert and other goodies.

I believe it is R2. From reading posts on the website, some people in the US ordered it and the DVD would not play in their R1 machine.

Re: The Fratellis - Here We Stand (6/10/08)

Well, I finally bought a DVD player for my bedroom last night and decided to go region-free (got the Philips 5140 at Target for only $40).

A whole new world has opened up for me. I can finally get that R2 DVD of Pulp videos!

Now, to find the best price for this CD/DVD.
