What shows did you miss the first season of, but ended up liking?
Did you ever get into a show after the first season or halfway thru the run that you had never seen an episode of before, but then got hooked?
With all the shows out there - some good, some bad - it inevitably happens.
For me my main show that happened with is 'CSI: Las Vegas'. I think Season 8 just wrapped, but it was only a couple of months ago that my wife and I caught an episode and now we're hooked. We've been using Netflix to start from the beginning and have so far made it thru to half way thru Season 4 and are really enjoying it.

Very few shows have I watched from the beginning. Pretty much all the shows I watch now I had to "catch up" through dvd.
The Office, 24, CSI, Hell's Kitchen. I enjoy How I Met Your Mother, but don't watch it religiously. That one I didn't even go back and watch the previous seasons. I just started watching it last year. I really don't watch much tv so I don't have many examples. The only show in recently memory I can think of that I started watching right from the start and enjoyed was the Sarah Conner Terminator show.

I can't stand not seeing the first season, if it is something I think I will like I will rent/buy the first season and watch it. If I happen to blindly catch a random episode of a series and like it I will rent/buy the first seasons before I watch anymore. It's a pet-peeve of mine to have seen the beginning before seeing the rest. The only exceptions are things like The Munsters, and older sitcoms.

Too many to count.
The Shield
American Gothic
Battlestar Galactica
CSI
Law & Order SVU
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Angel
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Many, many more. I almost said House, but I only missed the first 3 eps. Not a major miss there.

Every show I watch now is a season or two behind. After getting hooked on too many shows (John Doe, Keen Eddie, Kidnapped, etc.) and then seeing them cancelled pissed me off to no end. I only watch established shows on DVD now.

Alias
House
NCIS
All during the third season, believe it or not.
It's pretty rare for me to get into a show without having seen at least one or two first season episodes, even if it was just by chance.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Started in Season 3 and backtracked through VHS trading. And Battlestar Galactica - watched the first season on DVD and picked it up on TV when Season 2 started.
Otherwise I watch shows I'm interested in from the first episode. If something gets a season or two in, obviously it wasn't something I wanted to see anyway.

As for current shows I watch:
Grey's Anatomy (started in season 2)
Survivor (started with the Thailand edition)
The Amazing Race (started in season 3)
Top Chef (started last season with Miami)
Pretty much everything else I have watched since episode 1.

Started in season 2 or later, but caught the show during its run:
Angel
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
ER
Gilmore Girls
Newsradio
Oz (watched on DVD exclusively starting with season 1 but it was after season 2 started)
The Sopranos (watched on DVD exclusively starting with season 1 but it was after season 2 started)
Caught the show after season 1 but before season 2 started (thanks to reruns):
Jericho
The Shield
I have caught up on several shows I began watching only after the show was done, so I'm not counting them.

Babylon 5. I saw some of the pilot and thought to myself, "this is so cheesy, it won't even last a season." For some reason I started to watch it sometime in the middle of the 2nd season and got really hooked.

Of the shows I currently watch, I picked up Survivor with the second season and Smallville with the fourth season (I know, I know). In both cases, I have the earlier seasons on DVD but haven't gone back to watch. American Idol I started watching in the sixth season, but like Survivor that's a little different from picking up a scripted show midway.
Lost and Chuck I picked up mid-first season.

Seinfeld has to be an answer for lots of people, considering how the first season was so short and not that successful.
Wasn't Cheers also not a ratings grabber in its first season?
These were back when you didn't have a way of starting at the beginning like you do now.
