I have met a few actors in my life and some have been very polite and pleasent (Bruce Willis especially) whilst others have just been plain horrible. So who have you met and what impression did they leave with you?

I've never actually met any. I did see Leelee Sobieski shopping at the store I work at though. I'd have gone up to her but figured she wouldn't want to be bothered while grocery shopping.

I've never met the guy, but I've ran into Dennis Quaid 3 times and he was always shitfaced. Saw Meg Ryan with him once....she was really pretty :drools:

I got a tiny speaking part in the movie Company Business and not only worked with director Nicholas Meyer on my scene (great guy, very patient and professional), but I ran into Gene Hackman on my way to craft services and had a short chat with him. Awesome fella, very grounded.

I do cons, and tend to get involved with the staffing side pretty often, getting access to the guests as a benny.

Star Wars:
Carrie Fisher - Pretty nice but not gushy. Very comfortable around us.
Peter Mayhew - Way cool. Fun drinking buddy.
Kenny Baker - Pleasant and quiet. A true gentleman.
Mary Oyaya - A total sweetheart.
Richard LeParmentier - Distant at first, but a regular guy once you're "in". Bit of a lush.
Anthony Daniels - I'd always heard he was a putz, but once I finally had a chat with him, I found he was all right.
Jeremy Bulloch - A regular fella.
Warwick Davis - Kind and friendly.

Star Trek:
George Takei - Warm and wonderful guy.
Grace Lee Whitney - Sweet and open, pleasant to chat with.
LeVar Burton - He really is just like his screen persona, just a bit more R-rated.

Assorted others:
Leni Parker - Somewhat guarded at first, then friendly and flirtatious after a while (I admit, I was flirty first). Screen and photos don't do her justice, as she is striking in person.
Sam Jones - Bit of a jerk, especially in comparison to...
Melody Anderson - Total sweetie, total hottie.
Jenette Goldstein - Regular person, nice to talk with, takes her acting seriously.

These are all persons I've had the opportunity to actually have a conversation with. Being a con-goer, I see and meet many more, but "Hello, love your work, would you please sign this?" doesn't really count to me. I also chat up a lot of artists and authors, but that's beyond the scope of this thread.

My wife has met a few. She really liked (developed a crush for) John de Lancie, but found Michael Dorn to be an asshat.

My ex-wife worked on the film The Innocent and during a break leaned on the piano while Anthony Hopkins played and sang for the extras. She said he was gracious and funny, and made the whole shoot a pleasure.

So, all in all, I automatically assume an actor is going to be cool when I first meet them.

I met Mel Brooks in Vegas last New Years. I reached out my hand, he shook it, and I said "Mr. Brooks I'm a huge fan. I think the top 3 directors of all time are Spielberg, Hitchcock, and Mel Brooks."
He said "Spielberg, Hitchcock, Mel Brooks? Why didn't you put me first?" and flashed a big smile. Absolutely made my year.

Are you sure it wasn't Helen Hunt? ;)

I've met British actor Peter Mullan twice and he's the cat's meow (aka, cool) he was ultra nice.

met Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Nick was funny and very approachable. Simon though seemed to have a bug up his butt, very stand offish.

Brendan Gleeson - what a hand shake.

I wimped out and missed Jeanne Moreau - I could have and should have met her formally, she and the director of the AFI Silver Theatre were talking outside the main auditorium one afternoon and I was going into the theatre.

Met George Clooney while working on the set of The Peacemaker. Terrific guy, very open and friendly.

William Hurt - He was filming a movie near my neighborhood. He was approachable and personable.

Brendan Frasier - While working on the set of The Scout. Standoffish and, to me, very effeminate.

When I worked on Private Parts, met most of the Stern crew.
Stuttering John - Friendly.
Fred Norris - Cool, and danced when we called him Eric.
Robin - Smiled, but made sure to stay away from everyone.
Jackie - Total douche.
Howard - Seemed like he was terrified.

My uncle was the arresting officer in the 1970s of Bob Denver for possession of marijuana. Someone in my family still has Gilligan's bowl...

One doesn't often meet actors and actresses in the state of Georgia... so I don't have many... but I have met a ton of athletes... Almost all of the 2008 Atlanta Braves (basically every non-pitcher)... about 1/3 of the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit (gordon, richard petty, the labontes, martin, etc)... A majority of the 2008 Pittsburgh Pirates (matt capps, doug mientkewicz of your 2004 boston red sox!, jason bay, etc)... Wade Boggs, Art Howe, any relevant UGA football and basketball player over the past few years... The 2008 Cinderella Atlanta Hawks (post Bibby trade... only really got to talk to Mario West and Bibby)... I used to run Shane Battier's official website (shanebattier.com) so I've met him...

I can't think of many non athletes... Ben Harper was pretty cool to talk to... Travis Tritt lives down the street from where I work so I'd imagine that's inevitable... I met George W. Bush back in 1999... he was in that Michael Moore movie.

well, I met Chuck Norris was I was fairly young, he was at a local movie theater promoting the "classic" Sidekicks because he was friends with the owner of the karate school that I went to. he was signing autographs, and of course you'd expect him to be nice to a bunch of kids in that setting.

I met Hal Sparks at a bar district that's close to Cincinnati. This happened a few years ago. Me and some friends were out drinking, when I see this guy there, and I kept thinking "man, that guy sure looks like Hal Sparks." So a little later, and kinda tipsy, I walk up to the guy and say "Hey, has anyone ever told you that look like Hal Sparks?" And he answers "Yeah," and his voice sounded just like Hal's, so then in a surprised voice I asked "Are you Hal Sparks?" and he answered "Yeah." I didn't really talk to him too much, as I really didn't want to both him (not that he's even close to an A-list star or anything, but still), and I was a little drunk and afraid of embarrassing myself, just "wow, nice to meet you," that sort of thing. He seemed nice. Much shorter than me.

A few:

I went to a picninc at Paul Newman's and JoAnne Woodward's house one summer. I was very young so it is the perspective of a child but they were really nice and very normal. JoAnne made lemonade and enjoyed playing with the kids.

Met Steven Spielberg at the Stage Door deli just before Jaws came out. He is very intellectual. Believe it or not, despite "Jaws" being the name of the book there was internal pressure from the studio to change the name to something like "Shark Attack" which Spielberg was resisting. Sounded like they were not 100% on board with him as director because he was so young. Of course, Jaws changed all that.

I was an extra in "Ironwood", a movie I have never actually seen amazingly despite being in it. (Well, OK, apparently just my foot) Did not meet Meryl Streep much, but talked to Nicholson a bit and later we went to the hockey game at my university in Troy, N.Y. where the film was being filmed. He is so much like his public persona, and he was really friendly and approachable. Very normal.

I dated a girl in Hollywood for a while who had an "escort" as a roomate. Any yes, the Spitzer kind. I met the roommate several times. She was very pretty but kinda snotty and conceited, but photographed much prettier than she actually was. She later went on to be one of the top A list actresses and is pretty much a household name.

I haven't had too many celebrity encounters. One was "Weird Al" Yankovic. I got to talk to him for a few seconds after a show one time.

He was a total prick. Granted, the man did JUST put on a show.. but still. He couldn't have been any more rude if he tried.

Others (that I don't remember too much; given I was relatively young):

Barry Williams (Greg Brady)
The Hanson Bros (from Slap Shot)

And I've seen from a distance at the San Diego Comic Con..

Charles Marinet (voice of Mario)
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Seth Green
Matt Groening
Dan Castellenata
Harry Shearer
Creators of The Venture Bros.
Both "Tom" and "The Mayor" from Tom Goes to the Mayor

I accidentily bumped into "The Mayor" after the panel. There was this long corridor and I was on my phone not watching where I was going and totally plowed right in to the guy. He was nice about it though.

I would have expected everyone got a roundhouse kick.

Some of the celebrities I've met or sighted:

Denzel Washington, after a performance during the limited run he did as Brutus in Julius Caesar. Signed my mom and I'd playbills and my copies of Training Day and The Manchurian Candidate on DVD, seemed extremely stuck-up. My stepsister's husband worked on Inside Man and American Gangster (and currently on the Taking of Pelham One Two Three remake) and commented that he was pretty arrogant.

Bruce Springsteen, saw him at the movie theater at Monmouth Mall. I think he was seeing Kill Bill: Vol. 1.

Queen Latifah at the Whole Foods Market in Middletown, NJ on 35 North. Very friendly woman.

Liev Schreiber when he did Glengarry Glen Ross back in '05. Signed the same Manchurian Candidate DVD and couldn't believe that Washington's sig was already on it. Also a very nice guy.

Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick after The Producers back in April '01. Lane was stuck-up, Broderick seemed very down to earth. He was shocked when I said I loved him in Glory.

My stepsister's husband has met a shitload of people from the sets he worked on. He said Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese were the hardest-working directors and that the latter has some hilarious tendencies...when he did The Departed he saw him being led by an assistant to the set, and when the assistant made a wrong turn Scorsese walked into a wall, and that Jonathan Demme was the best to work with (did Manchurian Candidate and his new movie, Dancing with Shiva I think it's called). Also did I Am Legend, The Bourne Ultimatum, a few Sopranos episodes, Anger Management (one of his first jobs...he said Jack Nicholson was virtually directing that one), and a ton of others I can't remember. His old Escalade (or Blazer, can't remember) actually appears in a featurette on the Garden State DVD.

My sister-in-law conversed with Bill Murray at Monmouth Park Race Track after bumping into him. He said something really funny to her, can't remember what.

Also met a bunch of people at conventions (Horrorfind Weekend in Maryland), went in 2003 and 2004:

Jeffrey Combs (nice guy, but was irked that he signed my friend's 8x10 and not my DVD with "Cat's dead details later")

Dee Wallace Stone (friendly woman)

Gunnar Hansen (the opposite of Leatherface)

The entire Dawn of the Dead '78 cast (all pretty nice people, walked past Ken Foree going to the bathroom as well)

Tom Savini (a bit stuck up but gracious)

I walked right past Adrienne Barbeau at the convention as well...looks amazing for her age. IIRC she lives nearby in Monmouth County, she's married to Billy Van Zandt, brother of Steven from the E-Street Band.

And who HASN'T met Kevin Smith being from this area?

Met some people at movie screenings with Q&A's, so I guess that counts.

Emile Hirsch - A down to earth guy, not too flashy
Ben Foster - Artistic, lots of squirming around, over analyzed everything
Peter Fonda - BMF, everything about him was just cool

When I was in school I worked at an Off-Broadway theatre...celebrities were there almost every day, which was pretty awesome. These I guess stuck out more than others:

Alan Rickman- Completely intimidating...he came to my bar and ordered about twelve drinks for his "posse" (including a "fizzy water" for himself). I was so nervous I could barely pour. He didn't tip well either, but he looked so COOL and much older in person...silver hair, big red scarf.

Ian Somerhalder- Total asshole, had definitely been doing drugs in the bathroom. Couldn't even open the door to the theatre himself.

Alan Tudyk- One of my favorite actors, and lucky for me he was completely charming and friendly. Had a gorgeous blonde with him...I was jealous (of her).

Hugh Jackman- Gave both me and my friend big hugs. So wonderful.

Jorge Garcia- Came to see Evil Dead: The Musical by himself, which I thought was strange...but hung out at the bar for a few minutes, was really sweet, seemed to be having a great time. And let me tell you, as big as he looks on TV...the guy is GIANT. Much taller than I expected.

Bruce Campbell- Speaking of Evil Dead...he came to one of the performances and was just as arrogant (and badass) as you would expect. Threw cups of stage blood all over the audience.

Reiko Aylesworth- Came to see James Badge Dale in this terrible play (his performance wasn't so hot either). She looked sort of like those "lollipop celebrities"...big head, little body. Very quiet, but was kind enough to take pictures with the two people that recognized her from 24.

Matt Damon- I technically didn't meet him, but I sat in the third row of his Inside the Actor's Studio taping, and he was everything I'd hoped he would be (he's my number one favorite actor). He brought his entire family along and just seemed SO grounded. He was much funnier than I expected too--they cut almost all of his great stories out of the broadcast, including a dead on Jack Nicholson impression. The taping took about four hours, but I could have listened to him all day.

Living in New York you see people often...but none have stopped me in my tracks the way Ryan Gosling did the other day. Gosh that boy is pretty.

 at the way that he referred to his friends. Was Al Leong in his "posse"? (The dude who tortures Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon, was also one of the terrorists in Die Hard and Genghis Khan in Bill and Ted)

Bruce Campbell was just as friendly and awesome as he is in his movies. It was during a book signing at UNC, and after a long wait, my GF of the time had to go back to her dorm because of a bad headache.

So I get up there with 2 books, one with her name on it, and he made a comment about a female name, and I explained it was my gf's who left with a headache, and he replies "Don't you hate it when they have 'headaches'?"

As he is signing mine, he noticed the copy I had was already signed, with a name plate (I didn't even know, just randomly bought it at some book store) So he signed it again, with "Shop smart, shop S-Mart!" Awesome.

On the flip side, I met Paul Johansson, from One Tree Hill, one night. Being in Wilmington theres always people filming here. But anyway I was with 2 girls one night downtown, and they caught Johansson's eye, and he invited us to party with him at some exclusive club he was going into. Total asshole though. He spent the entire night trying to get up the girls shirts, get them drunk, mention hes from Hollywood, and we do things differently here. And kept asking if I was banging either of the girls. Later the girls apologized to me for being starstruck and sticking me there. I did drink his expensive wine though ;)

oh der... I met him personally at the Virginia Film Festival in '06 where they did a screening/post film Q&A of 'Everything's Illuminated' - you're right he's very nice. He was also very relieved when I asked him my question, which was prefaced 'Can I ask you a non-film question' his instant retort was 'oh definately' I asked him what his next Broadway play was - he invited me to it: 'Talk Radio' (which I did go up to see).

Chiwetel Ejiofor stayed in my hostel in Paris while I was there. 4 people to a room - he was there with his buddy and I was doing the college eurail/hostel trip with my friend. It was right before he made it big and he was over there checking out mime schools. He told us he had a movie coming out in the states and to look out for it (Amistad). He and his friend joined us for dinner one night, too. He was very cool, very friendly and since then I have enjoyed just about every movie he has been in.

Summer Phoenix (River's sister) came to a summer camp I was a counselor at. She's done a couple of movies but nothing lately as she now has two kids with Casey Affleck. Anyway, we became pretty good friends and I fell head over heels madly in love with her. I think she liked me but not nearly as much as I liked her. We kept in touch for awhile but haven't spoken to her in many years.

And I met Robin Williams when I was a kid at one of those discount electronics stores in NYC. He seemed nice enough but a bit "out of it" and signed my Hard Rock Cafe bag.

Having gone to a few cons over the years like most people, I've met a handful.

James Marsters - Cool guy, looks much younger than he actually is. We spoke for a bit and he asked, regarding my nametag: "Is that really your name?" (I have an unusual first name.) When I said yes, he said, "Fuckin' A man! Cool name." After I got my autograph, I asked him for an autograph for my mother because he was the sole reason she watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer with me years ago. He obliged and kissed the photo and said to make sure she knew that he had kissed it for her.

Adrian Paul - Didn't really get to talk to him, but despite being very obviously jet lagged, he was very humble and sweet when I thanked him for making a Highlander movie sequel that didn't suck (Highlander IV).

Amanda Tapping (from Stargate SG-1) - Saw her at the same con as Adrian. My friend walked up to her thinking she was on the convention staff. She smiles and says, "Hi, would you like an autograph?" My idiot buddy just says, "Uh, no, I just wanted to know when Adrian Paul would get here." She looked a little hurt and said he'd probably be around soon. I said to my friend, "Dude, you just dissed the chick from Stargate." In retrospect, I should've gone to talk to her, but I wasn't a Stargate fan at the time (I'm a huge fan now though). Beautiful woman and she seemed really sweet, but I can't forget that little hint of disappointment in her face when she offered my buddy her autograph and was refused.

John Rhys-Davies - Class act all the way. There was a long line for autographs and the convention staff was trying to cut the line short and ordering us not to speak to him and to move quickly. Upon hearing this, John stood up and bellowed, "Don't listen to them! I will get to each and every one of you, I promise!" We shook hands and chatted a bit about Indiana Jones and Sliders and his voice work on Gargoyles. Incredibly nice guy, and taller and thinner than I expected. He flirted with all the girls and talked fanboy stuff with all the guys. Definitely my favorite celebrity meeting.

Chris Sabat and John Burgmeier - Two anime voice actors from Dragonball Z, Yu Yu Hakusho, and a bunch of other series. John was a little quiet and seemed distracted, but Chris was a riot. Great guy, the kind you'd want to hang out with at a bar. They ended up coming to a con event with me and my friends later in the day.

incidently one of my favourite episodes.

Similarily, I went to see Neil LaBute's 'The Shape of Things' on Broadway for my birthday and Paul Rudd in the one scene where he's in the audience - he was one seat away from me ... way cool.

Had a conversation with Crispin Hellion Glover after seeing his movie ten or so years ago (I think it's finally being released). The cast in the film consisted of him and people with Downs Syndrome. I remember swastikas and salt being poured on snails. I will have to buy it when I see it on DVD. We had a nice conversation and he was just as cool and crazy as you'd expect. I'd definately see him again. By the way, I love his CD too.

I met John C. Reilly in Chicago. He was pretty cool and let me take a pic with him.

On the flip side my sister and I saw Dan Akroyd in New York and a guy said "Is that Dan Akroyd" in ish prompted him to run like he was Justin Timberlake or something. How lame.

A few weeks later my sister and i were at Wal-Mart looking through the $5 dvd bins and saw all these Akroyd movies "Caddy Shack 2" "Spie Like Us", "My Mother the Alien" and my sister was like I wish Dan Akroyd was here to see his career in the $5 bin.

I've never personally met him, but I've been active in the online Ghostbusters community for 10 years now, and everyone that's been fortunate enough to have an encounter said he's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He doesn't even get weirded out by people going up to him in total costume and proton pack replicas. The guy's a real class act.

Surprised he acted like that.

I've met and talked (phone interviews) to a number of celebs, and it's really hard to judge what they may/may not be like, because you have to remember they're in the entertainment industry and you never know how much of an act they're putting on for you.

That being said, on the several occassions (both in person and on the phone) I've chatted with William Shatner, I've found him to be a gracious, fun person to talk to. I only bring this up because of his bad rap (primarliy among co-stars whose last name isn't "Nimoy") that he's hard to deal with.

I only met him once, so maybe he was having a bad day, but I found Adam West to be an A-one jerk. Totally full of himself on the day I met him.

Patrick Stewart - Very gracious and gentlemanly. Big hands, firm handshake.. looks you right in the eye. I had to refrain from geeking out and absentmindedly calling him Capt. Picard. I did stand at attention when he walked into the room tho.

LeVar Burton - Cool guy. Very different from his Reading Rainbow persona. Loves to smoke cigars.

Jonathan Frakes - He remembered my name. That makes him uber God to me. It's not often that a peon gets recognized by name. Really friendly.

Siddig El Fadil (Alexander Siddig) - Very laid back attitude, with a good sense of humor.

Keanu Reeves - Mellow guy. Very much like his one screen persona. Quiet and unassuming. Talked to him about his band Dogstar and how his recent show went. This was pre-Matrix. Co-worker thought he was going to rob us.

Corey Feldman - Just about after his 2nd stint in rehab. Talk about surreal moments. Just chatted for a good 30 mins about all kinds of shit while he was waiting for his ride to show up. Seemed like an average guy, not a douchebag.

Tia Carrera - Total bitch. Acted like the world should be handed to her on a silver platter.

Everyone else I haven't really had an interaction with.

Worked on features, and also did some directing...

George Wendt - one of the nicest guys.

Gabriel Byrne - Smart, funny, class act.

Lena Olin - A little stand-offish, but so beautiful, and has an amazing grace, and presence.

Paul Rudd - nice guy

Reese Witherspoon - was really mean, and bratty, granted I was a props person, and had to remove her jewelry at the end of everyday, and she was young, and I think she hated the movie we were doing.

Winona Ryder - Let's just say I don't have anything nice to say about her.

Fred Armison - He dated one of my business partners, this was way before SNL, and he was in the Chicago music group "Trenchmouth." He was pretty funny, kinda snarky, and a little self conscious.

Milli Avital - Shared a plate of fish with her, while working on a film, very cute, and charming.

David Carradine- Sat and talked to him for a few minutes, nice man.
Richard Dreyfuss- he was nice, he gave me a flower :)

Its good to hear that so many seem like genuinely nice people in real life. Its funny that a lot of actresses seem to be bitches. Maybe the industry does this to them....or they are simply like my ex-wife.

By the way you have to give us a cluse as to who the A list escort was......initials at least.

Keep em coming these posts are making good reading.

I met Donnie Yen---he was pretty cool. Extremely confident and enthusiastic about all aspects of filmmaking.

As far as seeing actors appearing at small film screenings and taking Q & A :

William H. Macy
Chow Yun-Fat
Sammo Hung
Chris Elliott

All these guys seemed pretty friendly and likeable.

Disney was shooting a movie in my small town a couple weeks ago, and they transformed the town to look like a town in Alaska. I went into town after to work to see the hubub, and Sandra Bullock walked by me on the sidewalk.

I didn't say anything to her, but I did do a double-take with a bit of a slack-jawed stare as a I recognized her. But did she stop, ask me if I was a local, make small talk and suggest that I take her out to a romantic local spot for an intimate dinner? NO! ---she just kept walking past me to where she was going. She is SO full of herself.

:rolleyes:Must've been the car crash she was in a couple of weeks ago. Must have knocked the sense right out of her! How dare she! :D

Nope, I can't use that for an excuse, because when I saw her it was just a couple days before her car accident. :)

But, even though she snubbed me ;) , I suppose I should be fair to her. The nature of the accident (in the next town over from me) was that her SUV was hit head-on by a drunk driver crossing the median. It was at a very low speed, and there were no injuries, but the officer noted how nice Ms. Bullock was, and how she was mostly concerned about the well-being of the woman in the other car.

I've met quite a few, mostly horror celebs, since a friend of mine has connections up the wazoo. Too many to bothering listing, but one of the nicest was David Cronenberg. No one has been a dick to me... yet. Plus, I've also got a short list of celebs I've gotten high with.

Anthony Zerbe -not what you would call a "famous actor" but has done a lot of good work mostly as a villian I met him in a hotel bar in Fargo ND and spent the evening with him talking about his various films ( KISS Meets the Phantom I could spend a day on that story alone!), great guy and he picked up the tab! What more could you ask for!

Tim Allen- I was an extra in the film Joe Somebody, he was a blast! Treated everyone on the film great no matter how big or small your part was.

Jesse Ventura- not really an actor but... has been in several films. HE was a blast I don't care what anyone says about him. That guy is more interesting than anyone I have ever met.

Simon Pegg- I met him in Las Vegas at a roulette table when Shaun of the Dead was just about to be released here in the states. I had actually seen the film before it came out here so we talked a bit about "how" I had already seen it etc... I found him to be a great guy and he treated me and my wife very well, we actually spent a lot of time with him and I will just say that what happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas... :)

Bill Cosby - Super nice dude
Sidney Poitier - Had lunch with him, very charismatic
Dennis Quaid - Ass
Sean Connery - Very gentelmanly
Kevin Smith - everyone's met him, real nice dude
Robert Rodriguez - he was ok
Quentin Tarantino - same
Carla Gugino - very sweet woman
Meg Ryan - she was drunk
Steve Coogan - seemed happy that some one recognized him
Andy Dick - walking down the hallway together and peed at the urinal next to me, weird guy
Peter Dante - Same as he is in Sandler's movies, regular guy. Peed nextto me as well.
Ben Stiller - Nice guy
John C. Reilly - cool dude, very friendly ran into him twice
Paul F. Thomkins - chill, he ate some of my popcorn
Vin Diesel - he was ok
Jerry O'Connell - cool, normal dude
Linda Cardellini - very nice, very short
Jason Segel - regular dude
Seth Rogen - same
Nick Swardson - very chill, i think he was high

Last but not least - James Duval - he was BY FAR the coolest celeb I've ever met. We hung out for a while one night at an event, kept running into each other , even ended up sitting next to eachother at the formal part of the evening. I saw him a few months later out, and he remembered me by name, I thought that was pretty dope of him.

Bruce Campbell- sarcastic as expected

A relative of mine met Paul Newman and like every other story I've heard of people meeting him, he was super nice and friendly.

A friend of mine though, met Clint Eastwood at a car show in California and said it was awesome because they chatted for a bit about the cars. He said the only bad thing was he was just like a regular guy and it killed a lot of the mystique he had.

One doesn't often meet actors and actresses in the state of Georgia... so I don't have many... but I have met a ton of athletes...

I can't think of many non athletes... Ben Harper was pretty cool to talk to... Travis Tritt lives down the street from where I work so I'd imagine that's inevitable... I met George W. Bush back in 1999... he was in that Michael Moore movie.

Well to my surprise Jose Canseco was actually a pretty cool guy...at least circa 1992. Robin Yount was a slight douchebag...go figure. One of my wife's former co-workers used to go with her family to spend time with family friend Cal Ripken Jr...and said he was just a plain Joe. Charles Barkley was seemed nice despite seeing him in Milwaukee. 15 years later I'm still pissed about the Hyatt staff forcing me out of the hotel while in a crowd to get his autograph despite being a registered guest. Going to the bottom of the barrel....the worse guy I ever met was a RP for the Brewers by the name of Chuck Crim. The guy acted like he was the Babe Ruth of baseball when in reality he was an average middle reliever.

Entertainment wise... Ted Nugent was awesome. My first time meeting him was when I tagged along with my dad for an interview with him. After walking into his hotel room and being shocked to see a loaded pistol right by his bed, he was really nice and explained to my still slightly naive self why it was there. At the end he ordered room service and ordered me a Coke which I thought was pretty cool. Met him a few other times and remembered me every time. I found out a bit later that his oldest son was around my age so that may have been part of why he was so nice.

Ah, so we finally get an explanation for Arpeggi's obsession with pointing out how much Firefly/Serenity sucks whenever he can.

And people, you don't drop bombs like this...
Plus, I've also got a short list of celebs I've gotten high with.

I talked with a friend about this thread yesterday and he recounted a story about a time a number of years ago when he was working at a famous Golf course in Scotland. He was in the lobby of the place and helping Sean Connery with his luggage. A middle aged woman recognizes Sean and goes up to him and says "Your Sean Connery." to which he says "I certainly am.....now Fuck Off!!!" My mate said that he found it really hilarious and it sounds exactly like something i would expect of Mr. Connery.

The same mate also said that Sylvester Stallone was at the golf course at one point. One of the days he was about to play golf on his own and he asked one of the caddies if he fancied a round of golf with him. Apparently the caddy said that he was the coolest most friendliest of guys. How cool would that be.

I have to agree. Jimmy is in my buddy's upcoming movie, so I've gotten to know him fairly well. We hung out a lot at the recent Fangoria convention and he gave me his number to hit him up anytime I'm up in LA. I've been over to his place a couple times and he's such a cool, mellow guy. Let's just say that he's a BIG fan of my former namesake (for those of you that knew my handle before I changed it). Very nice to his fans and totally down to earth.

Here's a more comprehensive list of my encounters:

Elise & Electra Avellan (Babysitter twins from Grindhouse): VERY sweet. They're also in my friend's movie, so we know each other by name now.

David Lynch - Mellow, very nice.

Richard Tyson - Totally cool guy.

Roddy Piper - Took a limo with him to the airport. Very polite and nice.

Kane Hodder - Intense. Funny guy.

Glen Danzig - Tired after the show, but nice.

Dave Mustaine - Seemed drunk, but very cool.

Robert Englund - Lives close to me. Nice guy.

Chris Sarandon - Cool dude.

Dick Miller - Kick ass.

Tom Savini - Cool, but kinda spacey.

Chris Parnell - Talked for a bit. Cool.

Ray Harryhausen - On the verge of death. Barely there.

Ed Lauter - Awesome guy. Talked my ear off.

Ernest Borgnine - SUPER cool.

P.J. Soles - Very sweet.

Henry Rollins - Quiet and intense, but nice.

George Romero - Talked for a bit. Very nice.

Doug Bradley - Partied with him for a night. Rad.

Tommy Chong - Cool guy.

Cheech Marin - Ran so fast I didn't get him to sign the poster Chong just signed. So, a dick.

There are a lot more, but these are just some notables. Going to a lot of conventions, and having inside friends, always helps.

I've had quite a few encounters but here are some of the more memorable ones:

Ian MacKellen: Such a gentleman and extremely courteous and surprisingly funny. He was doing a production of King Lear and I asked him about how he got along with the rest of the cast. He said it was like family dynamics - there was the accomplished actress who was the motherly figure, the young ones who needed guidance, etc. As for himself, he said "I'm the gay uncle."

Janeane Garofolo: Sarcastic as expected but still nice. Ran into her a few times in the East Village, twice at Starbucks. My friend told her he loved her, she lowered her sunglasses to look at him and smile, then went back to sipping her latte.

Elijah Wood: Really cool, humble, and a bit geeky. Met him at a fashion show - noticed he was standing in the back even though a star like him could demand front row. I pointed it out to one of the show producers and she immediately invited him to sit in front. After the show he left pretty quickly but obliged when fans asked him for photos. Ran into him at a toy store a few days later and then a second-hand record store. He's into some obscure stuff.

Jessica Simpson: Fake, fake, FAKE. She arrived at a fashion store opening three hours late, stepped out of her SUV to pose and smile and wave at the photographers for literally five minutes, then climbed back into her car and got driven off. Didn't even say hello to the designer or other celebs there (including J. Lo and Mena Suvari). Press reports the next day claimed she mingled with everyone, but those of us who were there know the real story.

Liev Schreiber: Saw a cute dog on the street and stooped to pet it, and when I looked up I saw it belonged to Liev. He was really nice and had no airs whatsoever. I didn't let on that I knew who he was, and he seemed to enjoy talking about something other than himself.

Christopher Lloyd: A friend noticed him while we were leaving a concert. He was dressed in a ratty gray overcoat and hat, was really pale and wrinkly, and looked like a hobo. He looked really pleased that we recognised him, though the smile faded when my friend kept calling him "Doc".

Peter Bogdanovich: An arrogant snob, but then again, he was a guest lecturer at a film class I took. He loved bragging about himself and his work, and especially his close relationship with Orson Welles (who the class was about). His impersonation of Orson was pretty dead-on, though.

My favourite non-actor encounters:

John Legend: It was the day after a concert so he was really tired and a bit stand-offish. Then he burped in my face, it smelled like Indian food, and he was so embarrassed and apologetic. That broke the ice and he was cool after that.

Anthony Bourdain: Chatted with him in the VIP section of a concert and had lunch with him. He talked passionately about his favourite NYC eats, how much he hated Iceland, swore often, and went outside for a cigarette every 10 minutes. A little full of himself but very cool nonetheless.

Doug Bradley
Andrew Bryniarski
Bruce Campbell (TWICE)
Chris Cooper
Alan Cumming
James Franco
Diane Goldner (Harley Mom from Feast)
Benjamin McKenzie
Natasha Richardson
George Segal
Liev Schreiber

I also saw Tommy Lee Jones and he was T-A-N-K-E-D when he was receiving his award at the Savannah Film Festival. At first, he was normal and then he started slurring and ranting about using Fuji Film Stock for The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. Jet Li - he filmed Romeo Must Die & War in our building. Very down-to-earth and
friendly. Took time to give autographs to a lot of people

Robin Williams - very friendly towards everyone, and I mean everyone. When a
woman wanted to take a pic of him and found out she didn't bring her
camera, Robin Williams mingled with others while waiting for her to
buy a camera fm a corner store

Harrison Ford - freakin' tall guy but very unassuming. Didn't really mingle around and
seemed uncomfortable with all the attention. He also filmed "Firewall"
where we lived.

Yuen Biao - saw him in Chinatown and just approached him to say how much I
appreciated his work. He gave a huge smile and thanked me

Ryuhei Kitamura (Japanese director of Versus, Azumi & the upcoming Midnight Meat Train) - recognized him when I accidentally kneed his young kid in the head in HMV
Tokyo. I apologized profusely and realized his father. Kitamura must be
around 6'2"...really tall!!! We spoke a few minutes in Japanese and told him
how popular his films are (Except for Azumi, I personally hate them).

Usher - met him in a restaurant in Tokyo. I was with a black friend and I guess he
warmed up to us right away because of it.

Jennifer Beals - friendly and gorgeous. Had some yoga lessons and she mingled with
the other students.

Goldie Hawn - came to my yoga class...very friendly as well, but her lips do look weird.

Sting - his teacher taught in our yoga class and Sting showed up. Nice guy but has a
certain pompous attitude in him

The few actors I've met have all been nice and cordial to everyone.

Al Pacino-Very nice guy. Never realized how short he was. Met him through a friend's father during a luncheon.

Bruce Campbell-Went to one of his book signings. It was a smaller crowd so he was more than happy to chat it up and talk to everyone.

Will Smith-He was great. Talked to everyone and took a ton of pictures.

Tommy Lee Jones-Met him and Smith while they were filming Men in Black 2 near one of my summer jobs. Quiet and very humble. Had a great sense of humor when one of my co-workers jokingly asked, "When are you and Seagal gonna work together again?" He started laughing and his reply was, "When I'm in a role where he doesn't kick the tar out of me."

Met George Hamilton and his girlfriend or wife or whoever the hell she was in at the Beverly Center in LA. Total jerk. Self-important and arrogant. Too bad he was in THE GODFATHER PART III (my favorite movie series).

I also met Oliver Stone backstage after he appeared to speak at U.C. Davis. Yet another arrogant a--hole. Love [some] of his movies, can't stand the man. However, I think he discovered the actress who played the lead role in HEAVEN AND EARTH that evening.

I met many actresses who appeared in adult films. (Does that count?) Some were absolute sweethearts, others were just empty-headed.

Ha, this kind of attitude is awesome: "How DARE he not stop and sign my poster! The man clearly does not know his priorities! What an asshole!"

As for me, I guess I'll share my celebrity story: like many others here, I got to briefly chat with Bruce Campbell during a book signing at a B&N in San Francisco when he was promoting his autobiography. He tried to guess my name before opening the book to see what it really was; he thought I was surely a "Tom."

I am not a Tom.

Well, it was after a q&a following Up In Smoke. There weren't many people trying to get his autograph. I'm of the opinion that unless it's a convention or some sort of book/DVD signing, celebrities have no duty whatsoever to sign something or take a picture. Maybe he had other things to do, or maybe doesn't like giving autographs, who knows?

Then again, I've never understood this fascination with getting things signed by famous people. Not saying it's stupid, just that I don't understand it.

The one cool-as-hell, rare item that I would love to own (I think Cultshock mentioned it on the "Sign-My-DVD" thread at the DVD forum) was that the cast members each signed a page of the "Book of the Dead" edition of Evil Dead. About 10 years ago, I stopped at a hotel in PA to get some cash since it had the only ATM off that exit, and ended up holding the door for James Earl Jones as he was walking out. He said, "Thank you, young man," I said, "You're welcome, Mr. Jones," and that was that. For some reason, I expected him to be shorter, but he's about as tall as I am (6'). He was nice enough to say thank you, so I would have to say he's a nice guy. ;)

As I was getting cash out of the ATM, I overheard the girl behind the desk telling a friend (on the phone) that all of the guys at work kept telling her he was from Star Wars, but that she didn't remember a heavier black man being in Star Wars.

I literally ran into OJ Simpson at a convention in New Jersey a couple years ago. I was walking outside and he was walking into the place. He was nice enough to stop and say hello and hows things going. Big smile on his face. He lloked like crap though, just old and worn down I mean.

I sold Mick Foley his Playstation 2. I was suprised how tall he really is. He was a great guy. Bought a bunch of sports games like baseball and hocky (no wrestling games).

I've met Dee Snider a few times. He's a nice enough guy but not someone who really likes talking about himself which is cool. I also worked with his son Jesse for awhile at a comic book store.

I met Angelina Jolie while filming a movie here in Seattle called Life Or Something Like It. She was finishing filming at the Icon Grill downtown. Waited outside with a couple other girls that knew she was wrapping up. We weren't sure if she would come out to say hi, so I asked her publicist/assistant if she had a few minutes to come out and say hi. She went and asked Angelina, she came out to say hi, signed a couple autographs talked to us, I asked her out to coffee, she said thanks but she had to get back to the hotel and get out of wardrobe. I said "well i can help you out of that if you like" Angelina said "here are my assistants Rocco and Moose"

That last part was a poor attempt at humor and never happened I did ask her out to coffee, but the last part is not true. :)

AJ is super cool, very nice and super sexy. Great actress with a great attitude and very down to earth. The movie she was doing sucked though.

Met Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright at one of the Hot Fuzztival Screenings. Nick and Simon had gone to a Mariners game and gotten drunk, and we were near the back of the line, so I think he was just tired but Simon seemed kind of uptight. Nick and Edgar were much nicer. And of course recently Edgar has responded to my questions on MySpace, and also I did a phone interview with them during the Shaun tour and Simon was much friendlier then.

Met Bruce Campbell at Scarecrow Video in Seattle. You had to buy his audiobook to get an autograph, but I didn't have the money (I had thought I did, but I didn't) so I had to wait while I got some transferred in. Since I was the only one left and I waited, he let me get both of my "Book of the Dead" DVDs signed, and made fun of me for seemingly changing my opinion of War of the Worlds while talking to him. Thumbs up.

Met David Lynch. He laughed when I asked him if the rumors that he would do a commentary for INLAND EMPIRE were true. I think I expected him to be sort of intimidating, but he seemed perfectly friendly.

Met Michael Showalter at a screening of The Baxter. Seemed to dislike being famous (which I can understand). Was down to earth but sort of beaten down by the whole process. When I interviewed him, he didn't give very good answers. My friend met him at a different event and said he was a dick.

Interviewed Michel Gondry and he was great, answered my questions with enthusiasm. I felt awkward about it on the day, but I really regret not getting his autograph as he is my favorite director.

Interviewed Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson. Jeff seemed uncomfortable with the interview process, but opened up after awhile, and Brian was nice.

Interviewed Jason Reitman, who was very friendly and normal. I could easily imagine hanging out with him, although of course he is, of anyone I have talked to, the closest to my age.

Met Miranda July at a book signing. She seemed mildly embarrassed in that she was only signing books, and I had a DVD, and the book was not for me.

Met Danny Boyle at a screening of Millions and he was very friendly. I wish I'd known he was going to be there, I'd have gotten my 28 Days Later DVD signed.

Interviewed Andrew Niccol and Jay Chandrasekhar and Erik Stolhanske (of Broken Lizard) over the phone and they seemed nice.

Interviewed Dane Cook over the phone before he was really as famous as he is now and he was friendly. Amusingly had to chase his dog in the middle of the interview and stop it from getting into a fight, and also stuck around despite someone unidentified asking him to go somewhere during the call. My feeling is that he has since let fame go to his head, but regardless he still has my interview on his website, so I suppose I have no reason to say that.

Emailed with Rian Johnson at his forum for Brick. He was nice, all I had to do was PM him.

Wrote a review of Waiting... and posted it on a message board, Rob McKittrick (the writer/director) created an account and thanked me for writing a positive review, because he felt the mainstream critical response would be negative, which is, of course, extremely nice of him to do and cool that he saw my writing.

Walked past Will Smith (he got on an elevator I was getting off). I knew he was going to be there and I had a DVD to get signed but regretfully I did not get back on the elevator. He was much taller than I realized.

I also would like to know who this is.

Hell, her initials will do.

Even though they shoot movies in Winnipeg every once and awhile, I haven't really met any actors. I have met a few wrestlers, however.

I met Kurt Angle at a chapters book signing back in 2001. I was only around 14 or 15 than and being in a wheelchair, I got to be the first person in line. He was extremely nice. I didn't have a book for him to sign (that's all they'd let him sign), so he says to someone, "go get me a book."

I met Chris Jericho at Toys "R" Us back when both Raw and Smackdown came to Winnipeg for the week. He was, like Angle, super friendly. I brought one of those cheap disposable cameras and he was pretty funny about it. "How do you work these high end cameras"

I met the Sandman at Pictures-Frames & More and he gave me free tickets to the wrestling show that was at the convention centre.

When I was at Raw I was in the wheelchair row and the old arena and in order to get there or get out you had to go through where the wrestlers walk out and I saw Trish Stratus and she stopped for a quick pose.

I met Chris Benoit at City Place mall downtown. He was around 4 hours late, but I was the first in line so I didn't have to wait long to see him when he did show up. He was nice. He asked how long I'd been waiting and a few other questions and then I left. His eye looked real bad, however.

For non-wrestling I've only met Fred Penner.

Met Rutger Hauer once outside LAX. He came over and asked us for a light. While my friends fumbled to find a lighter I did a double take and said:
'Hey, aren't you that acter? Rutger Hauer?'
He says 'No. Who's that?'
'You were in Blind Fury, and Blade Runner. And ummm.. Sin City as well. C'mon, let me take a photo with you.'
'You've got the wrong guy, but if you want to take a photo go for it. I don't know why you'd want to though.'
'So... no ones ever told you that you look like Rutger Hauer?'
'No. I don't even know who that is.'
I had my camera out by then, but he made me so unsure about it all I just felt embarrassed to take a photo, since the party I was with had no clue about the actor, and started looking at me strange. It was definately him though.
Seemed like a cool enough guy, and in hindsight I'm impressed that he made me feel like I was wrong.

I Googled celebrity birthdays from 1959 and couldn't find any females I would still consider A-list. Maybe R.A.?

Or, if it's 1960, maybe D.H. I would not be surprised by M.T., but she's never been A-list.

Met Benoit at the first Wrestlemania Fan Fest in Anaheim. This was soon after he joined the WWF. I remember he didn't seem to happy to be there, seemed very serious. I went up, shook his hand and thanked him for the Owen Hart tribute match (the greatest technical match IMO) he had with Bret in WCW. When I thanked him, he just stared at me, never said a word. I shook his hand, got my autograph and left.

Well getting back to the escort person, if that person is 13 years the senior of C.D. and therefore was born in 1959 then the only two people that i see listed as being born that year that might be potentials have the initials N.K. and R.A. Actually thinking about it i could imagine either of these actually being an escort in their pre-hollywood years.

Man if C.D. was an escort that would have been legendary. If its the C.D. that i am thinking of....and judging by the photos that she took a photographer to court over it makes you think maybe it might have happened.

Actually, R.D. could fit this criteria, too. She's old enough, grew up in Europe which could lead to a snobby outlook on life, and was in Los Angeles for a couple of years before becoming famous. And she played this kind of 'risky' role in the early 1980s. For whatever reason, I can see her doing this.

I was an asshole to Charles S. Dutton:

I was standing at a street corner in NYC waiting for the light to change, when I looked to my left and I saw Charles S. Dutton standing next to me, waiting for the light to change as well. I knew who it was instantly, but for some retarded reason, I mixed him up with Forest Whitaker. I said to Charles "I loved you in The Crying Game." And he said in a low pissed-off Ving Rames-type voice, staring straight ahead without looking at me: "I wasn't in that movie." And then he just walked away...I was cursing myself all day for being so retarded and coming off as a gullible asshole. But I laugh about it all the time because If was going to act like a tool to an actor, Charles S. Dutton would be the last type of actor (or person) whom I would mess with - a man who killed someone in real life and spending 7 years in prison.

Leelee Sobieski (Deep Impact) - strutting in a mall with shades...(like a beeotch)
Shawn Wayans (White Chicks) - comes off as an a-hole, not sure
Tiffani Thiessen (Saved By The Bell) - trying to hide while watching a movie
Wayne Knight (Seinfeld) - quiet, so not sure what to make of him
Harland Williams (Rocketman) - dude is tall
Ismael Valdez (LA Dodgers pitcher) - walks in a movie theater @ night with two blonde bimbos with huge flotation devices
Todd Hollandsworth (LA Dodgers 3rd basebman) - together with Valdez, not sure if he had one or two of those chicks

Since we're using initials to avoid slander (at least I think that's why) then it shouldn't be a problem to give full names of people who it isn't. I think everyone means Cameron Diaz when they say C.D. So can you confirm that the actress we're trying to figure out is 13 years older than Cameron Diaz?

R.D. (aka R.M.) and J.T. were never A-list actresses, so they have to be excluded. R.A. is doubtul - never A-list and was born into an acting family - no needed to be an escort. Still no idea who T.H. is.

That leaves J.M., D.H. (A-list for a short time in the past) and P.H. as the only possibilities in my mind. Is it any one of those? If not, can you throw us another hint?

Again IF it was someone, this story would have been everywhere the minute she became famous... even if they are mildly famous the stories are out about this kind of stuff.

There is no way an "A" list actress could have hidden that. Some one would have talked a long time ago...

Maybe she just looked like someone, and you are mistaken.I presume he knew her name, and recognized both the name and the face when the actress became famous.

I would have to say, since they probably use fake names when escorting, and since this was clearly a very long time ago, not every actor or actress really looks like "someone", they are famous and then they look familiar. Before someone is famous you can't pick them out of a crowd, so if the person looked everyday enough years ago, I doubt their appearance, with a different name, in a movie, would immediately make you remember as a customer, and perhaps they use a different name as an actress as they do their real name (in which case, perhaps her ex-roommate told this guy or he inferred).

Since they became famous, I imagine that perhaps she didn't do it very long. I would say it's very possible that it could have stayed quiet all of these years, or at least quiet enough for only, say, the National Enquirer to run it as a blurb that's long since been forgotten.

I'll confirm Rutger Hauer is awesome and filled to the brim with interesting stories. This sits proudly displayed over my desk:

I've probably met the majority of the working actors today and haven't run into too many jerks. A certain 70's Show castmember would be one of them.

A smattering of some of my favorite encounters:

I thought Keanu Reeves would be a douche for some reason, but he turned out to be an incredibly nice, funny guy with a great sense of humor.

Jon Voight hugged me. He's someone who's always happy to talk to anyone. Very much a cool grandfatherly type at this point.

David Cronenberg is one of the nicest and wisest men I've ever met. I've had the pleasure of speaking to him on a couple occassions, and talking to him is like staring into the face of god. I have his visitor pass right next to Hauer's.

David Hewlett, James Callis and Grace Park are three of my favorite nerdy si fi channel actors working today. All super nice, fun people. And if you're into videography, Hewlett can talk to you about HD cameras until the sun goes down. Callis is super cool, and Park is the tomboy chick every guy wants to hang out with.

Christian Bale, super serious but nice guy. Signed a bday card for my girlfriend.

And because I know some people here think otherwise, Shia LaBeouf is a great, down to earth kid who's a legitimate fan of Transformers and Indy and knows his shit.

Surprisingly (or maybe not), Uwe Boll...amazingly nice guy and really fun to chat with.

Oh, and to respond to an earlier comment, I will confirm that Dane Cook, whatever you think of his comedy, is still a really friendly guy.

If PH is who I think it is, I don't think she's big enough to be the right person. But maybe I'm thinking of the wrong one. Whoever said she just lost her Fox show with KG, that's who I am believing it is meant to stand for. There is a thread in this forum about JM if that helps. RD has an anniversary DVD coming out but the star is the perhaps crazy TC, but I think you've already figured it out. The "bound" hint helped me figure out JT.

I've forgotten who DH is. It actually doesn't seem familiar, maybe my friend and I didn't figure that one out (we decoded them all this morning, with a little work).

I think the person who suggested MT is the most likely. And if you can't figure out who MT is, maybe you should double-check the envelope.

However, when I google it now, I cannot find a peep so I think that her "people" have done a good job of quashing it. Well you have made me one envious little person. I take it that you work in the industry to have met so many famous people. No matter the actor/actress (even the ones i don't think having any acting chops) i always want to think that off camera they are down to earth nice folks. It is good to hear that so many seem to be. I've met tons from festivals and work, but some that I'll mention right now as I have one of my last college finals in a few minutes.

Tony Danza: Easily the nicest, down-to-earth celebrity I have ever met. He actually invited a few of my co-workers to The Producers and brought them backstage to meet the cast. We actually chatted for a few minutes about how it was like growing up on Long Island.

Wayne Brady: Very humble.

Howie Mandel: Despite the OCD, very friendly.

Penn and Teller: I met Penn earlier in my life as he was dating my (then) girlfriend's aunt (long before he got married). The two used to do business with my job and I have encountered them on numerous occasions. Both are nice guys and very talkative.

Artie Lange: Met him twice on the same day and he was drunk both times. He was cool and chatted with my friends and I for a few minutes. I told him that Dirty Work was the most underrated comedy of our generation which got a huge laugh out of him. I can't call him out on being drunk as I was thrown out of the same VIP party (easily one of the highest points of my life, especially considering it was not even 12pm yet).

Seymour Cassel: Was at the same VIP party I first met Artie at. Very nice and friendly (mostly as I was the only one who recognized him).

Bruce Campbell: Sarcastic, yet friendly. Met him on two separate occasions about three years apart. The first time he wrote in my friend's book that "Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are gay."

James Van Der Beek: Douchebag.

Ethan Embry: Even more of a douchebag. Kind of looked like an LA hipster (unshaven, sunglasses at night, and wearing hoodie -- IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE IN THE FUCKING DESERT).

Colin Hanks: Very friendly and genuine.

Jon Abrahams: Very funny to talk to.

Marnette Patterson: Very nice and sweet.

Maybe after my final, I'll think of more (including meeting some of my idols such as Whedon and Smith).

I expect there are a few that are just complete douche bags, but again thats just the human race i guess. That's pretty much it. There are always a certain percentage of any group that are complete assholes (whether it be Hollywood stars or Detroit factory workers) or just inherently obnoxious (cough, Pauly Shore, cough), but the majority of people working in film/tv are friendly folks caught up in a bizarre culture of celebriworship. Some handle it better than others and you just have to drill through that. I've talked to up-and-comers who act like bigshot jerks after two small movies, and then you have someone like Anthony Hopkins who is one of the friendliest, coolest people around that you can have an actual conversation with.

And, of course, everyone has their off days or times they don't really want to talk. And that's when even the nicest celebs get stories floated around about how much of a bitch they are. And there are definitely some who are, but for the most part that's thankfully not the case.

I live at the ass-end of any possible intersection with anyone famous (the SE US but *not* Atlanta) so my experiences are limited. I've personally bumped into two celebs in my lifetime that I can remember, both in the music industry. The first was MC Hammer (!) in 1990/New Year's 1991 in New Orleans. At the time he was the biggest musical act on the planet. I was in one of the marching bands performing at the Sugar Bowl that evening and we were in the lobby of the Sheraton when he and his entourage came down. He seemed friendly enough but he looked like he hadn't slept in days and he was looking at all of us, in full uniform, like we were part of an especially confusing drug and/or booze fueled vision. The second was Elton John in the Buckhead part of Atlanta in the very early '90's (I was living there then briefly). He was walking on Piedmont with someone very late at night. If not the AM then very close. I was with someone and she and I were pretty lit. I remember being shocked to see him so late at night out on a major road. I don't remember much about our short chat but he was quite friendly, exceptionally polite and possibly a bit tipsy himself.

One nice second-hand story: My current only close friend on the west coast happened to go to some entertainment industry event a year or so back. She lives in LA but I want to say it was in San Diego. Anyway, Veronica Mars was represented back when it was still on and lo and behold who was there but Kristen Bell herself, the lead from the show, doing press and mixing with the public. My friend said she was extremely nice, sweet, very very pretty (which for my friend is like saying shes a goddess...not a lot of physical compliments about other women from her) and funny. Also very tiny. I remember that she said they somehow talked about dogs in their brief confab and that Kristen's eyes lit up and that one of her people had to kind of pull Kristen away to continue the smoozing with others.

However, when I google it now, I cannot find a peep so I think that her "people" have done a good job of quashing it. I probably should not have mentioned it, because it is unprovable, and can seem like a crock, but it is true and something I think of reasonably often especially since it is not really out there as public knowledge.

I think I know. Are her initials SS?

Can you tell us, have the initials of this person been mentioned in this thread so far?

Not that I noticed, no.

Yea, seriously, just give it up. I seriously doubt that the unnamed A-lister is going to come into this thread, find your posts and sue you or something. You'll feel better once you tell us. At least, I will.

I agree. Time to give up the name outright or if you're worried about a lawsuit or something you should at least give a pretty big hint. Something... anything. This thread's been derailed for a while and we have nothing to show for it.

Well, I live in Omaha so my stories aren't very good, but here we go:

Saw Adam West and Burt Ward at an auto show when I was 5, all I remember is they had on their costumes, which is kind of sad, and Burt Ward wouldn't sign my brother's scrap of paper since we didn't buy an official photo. My brother was three. For some reason he did sign mine though.

Met Cooter from "Dukes of Hazzard" aka Ben Jones, a real A-lister I know but one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

My wife met Chuck Norris when she was in her early teens and said he was super nice as well. And she met Jack Nicholson when he filmed "About Schmidt" here. She said it was weird because there was a group of like 15 people waiting outside of the home they were shooting and he came out. He went over to them, signed a bunch of autographs, and nobody said a word to him! They all acted like a bunch of awe-struck Nebraskans, which I guess they were. For some reason I didn't go with her, but oh well.

My wife's uncle met Clint Eastwood at a bar and bought him a drink, said he's just a regular guy, echoing what was said above. I'm a huge Eastwood fan so I'm a tad jealous of that one.

The only other "celeb" encounter I'd mention would be seeing A-Rod get in a limo while the rest of his teammates left on a bus after a Yankees game. I'm an A-Rod fan, but I thought that was a little weird. He did it both times I happened to walk out by where the players left.

Sorry, didn't room with any escorts turned A-listers.....

I shook hand with Arnold Schwarzenegger when he came to my town for a speech. Was polite and friendly and I was a little bit surprised that he wasn't that really tall as I saw him in the big screen.
