Ultimate Movie Moguls (Fantasy game by imdb) DVDtalk League

A new season started 7/2/08 and I've created a new league called DVDTALK3 with the same password dvddvd. For those who missed joining the 1st and 2nd leagues feel free to join DVDTALK3. Those who are in our current league can join as well.

You can have multiple studios running at the same time so that means you can have a studio in each league.

I just discovered Fantasy Moguls and noticed that a DVDtalk group was created last year sometime but I can't find an updated DVDtalk group so I created one for those who want to play.

To sum the game up from the web site:

Fantasy Moguls lets you create your own fantasy movie studio with a slate of real-life movies! As those movies perform well in the real world, so does your fantasy studio. Play against or with your friends as fellow moguls, and meet a community of fellow movie lovers. It's like fantasy baseball or football, except for movies!


They have two games on the site but to me Ultimate Movie Moguls looks more interesting.

Your studio slate is scored in four categories:

1. Box Office
2. Per Theater Average (PTA)
3. IMDb User Review Score
4. Top 5

The group that I created is DVDTALK and the password is dvddvd

I thought it would make sense if we kept the studio name the same as your DVDtalk user name so that we could keep track (eg. My studio is Amplified Films).

So it could be username Films or username Pictures etc......

The max number of members is 50 so if it fills up I'll create another group if needed.

If you join the group make sure and post in this thread.

I'm a little confused as to the scoring on movies in July. Since the season ends on July 28th, does that cut off the scoring a movie can do on July 28th? Therefore, you won't receive any points from a movie's performance after that point (so movies like The Dark Night become less popular picks), correct?

You're in first because even though Speed Racer under performed, it still did better in the 4 scoring categories then the other films that released last weekend. I had what happened in vegas which also opened last Friday and it did as well at the box office but did not have very good reviews. But it did cost me a lot less than Speed Racer cost you ;) :banana:
