First Blood Rerelease (http://www.cinemark.com/firstblood.asp)

Just a heads up to Rambo fans. Cinemark will have one showing of First Blood on May 15th at 7:30PM. It will play with the alternate ending and an interview with Stallone as well.

After seeing Fantom's Poltergiest debacle last October (film was showed in the wrong ratio, but the bonus feature after the documentary was letterboxed, but in the correct ratio), I don't think that I could trust them to show a film properly.

They showed Elm St. correctly when I went. I'll be showing up regardless.

Why are they doing this when there's the dvd?
When they re-released SCARFACE a few years ago it had a clean remaster right?

For those in Los Angeles, this is also showing at the Bridge.

It's basically playing at any movie theater that is supported by Fathom Events.

Regal. Edwards. United Artists. Cinemark. AMC. Georgia Theater Company.

I don't want to pay $10 to see a blown-up DVD transfer on a big screen. The only time Fathom used an actual 35mm print (from what I recall) was with the sneak preview of The Descent which included a 20-minute featurette on how they made the movie.

Someone mentioned earlier the Scarface re-issue. That was actually a limited release done by Universal a few weeks prior to the release of the original two-disc set.

I got my tickets. Should be fun, DVD blow-up or not. It's a great film that I never got a chance to see on a big screen. I'm going to the Irvine Spectrum showing.

Before I plop $10 down on this, is the alternate ending/Stallone interview available on the Blu-ray version? Or is the material exclusive to this showing?

Not sure about the interview, but the alt. ending is already available on the UE.

I should have researched and found out that this was a blown up DVD before paying to go. What a fucking waste of money. This looked like absolute shit. The additional ending was 2 minutes long, and a complete mess.

Glad I decided to stay home and watch Lost tonight then!

The Scarface re-release from Universal was actually the remastered edition on 35MM. I saw it and it was magnificent.

I agree. It was well done. I saw it in a theater consisting of about eight people on a Sunday afternoon as Vegas didn't get it until the weekend after it's DVD release.

I thought I remembered Fathom's screening of The Blues Brothers looking fine. But maybe I'm just blind.

If it really looked like garbage, I'm glad I didn't go. I wanted to, though.

Probably because Akroyd and Landis were involved with that one; I believe they did a live-via-satelite Q&A/interview after the screening.

We all have to learn our lessons os Fathom releases the hard way

How was the exclusive Sly interview?

The interview was actually pretty good. Some informative questions were asked. It was about 15 minutes long. The film did look like shit. Too dark, and it wasn't even blown up to fit the screen. This was my first, and last, Fathom event. The alt. ending I had seen before, so that was nothing new.

The interview focused entirely on Rambo (2008). It was decent, but it dragged after a while.

I don't know why anyone wastes money on these Fathom events, almost everyone has sucked balls. I'm so glad we have the Music Box theater here in Chicago - they show classics of sci-fi., 80's movies etc - they have a real organist play themese before the movie..its fantastic...

I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark there about a year ago and almost cried..it looked great. Never saw it on the big screen. (saw the other 2 though).
