Supernatural -- "Long-Distance Call" -- 5/1/2008

Synopsis:
Spoiler:
Sam and Dean search for a Crocotta that uses the phone and computer as a means to communicate with people. Its goal is to get people to commit suicide and take their soul. Dean gets some news from an unlikely source about a demon holding the contract to his soul.

Sounds kinda X-File-ish. Should be good!

Looking forward to it. I am sure it will be much better than last weeks.

Definitely the new Men in Black ... cheap suits. Did I miss the shot of Dad that was in last week's trailer, or did they leave it out?

I got that too. I love the horror name dropping from time to time.
I enjoyed the episode.
I was convinced that it really was their Dad. Bummer.

Not a bad episode. I'm also disappointed that it wasn't the dad.

This episode was good, but a little disappointing. First, other than character development stuff, for all the focus on the Dean's soul plot line they made virtually no progress there. Normally I wouldn't have expected much but the "Then" recap really got me psyched for something substantial to happen on that front.

The other thing was that I was never even close to sold on the MOTW/ghosts ruse. The disappointing part was that it felt like it was almost there but something was botched in the execution or script. I can't put my finger on it but I feel like they gave it away early in the episode and it cut the legs out from under the calls from dad drama. That stuff was still good, although it felt like they rushed it along in order to focus on the conflict between Dean and Sam.
