Thoughts on refurbished Playstation 3?
I'm thinking about buying a Playstation 3. I'd like a Bluray player and this one will also play GTA IV.
I've seen a few refurbished units floating around. I can work a nice deal on one at Overstock. ($380-7% coupon-4% cash back=$339.26) That's $60 cheaper than retail and could apply that towards a third-party warranty, extra controllers, games, remote, etc.
But I can't find many reviews of the refurbished units on the web. Has anyone had any experience with refurbed PS3s? What do you think?
Thanks

I got a "used" 60GB for around that same price off of the Best Buy auction site and it has worked flawlessly. My only issue is that whoever had the thing for one day registered the serial number, so I don't know if I can get any warranty action. But they did not use the UPC, so I was able to get the 5 free Blu-ray discs.
But there was nothing wrong with my unit at all. I think someone opened it, then returned it and that's what I got. As long as you're spending that money on something used/refurbished, might as well make sure you get a 60gb. But for me, it's been money well spent.

I also bought a used 60gb for about $350 (from an auction site) and have no complaints.

The question is: Is it refuribished from Sony or store itself? I have seen few places that they re-sell used electronic thing and label it "refuribished." If it came from Sony, then it's good.

60's are going for $350ish (auctions).....though I opted for the 40 from SonyStyle.com for $340 ($400 + tax + shipping - $100 SonyCard refund for signing up). I believe I got 5x sony points too. Not a great deal, but I doubled my warranty through my CC....which makes me feel better about my $400 investment.
