I'm just happy to see two PSP games in the top ten. Glad someone buys games for the system. The Wii was as expected and it looks like the PS3 is hanging in there with the 360 for console sales. Good times for gamers overall.

PSP is selling pretty well, although God of War and FF7 probably have a lot to do with it.

Yup. Xbox 360 sold 527.8K systems during the release of Halo 3. It will be interesting to see the huge bump in sales Xbox 360 gets from GTA4.

Those Wii numbers are crazy. It's already passed the total number of Gamecubes sold and ought to pass total sales of the original Xbox within a month or two. Two years ago, who would've imagined?

I think a lot of the gaming press was eager to jump on the news story that Sony was making a comeback when they barely edged out the 360 the last few months. I don't think we are going to see the comeback of the PS3 until a little later this year... if at all.

The one and ONLY PS3 game is #10 and sold 1/3 of the 360 version. What are PS3 owners actually buying? Clearly its not games. Theres not that many games available where it could be tough to get a game in the top 10 (see DS and GBA games). I still own 0 PS3 games.

Next few months will be interesting. Will MGS4 save the PS3? How will GTAIV sell between cross systems...

No & 2:1 (360:PS3)

Although just like WiiPlay and Motorstorm we will never truly know how MGS4 really stacks up since it will be a pack in. There won't be any distinction between the individual games sold and systems.

I can't believe the PS2 is still selling 200K+ a month.

There hasn't really been any big games released for it in a year... God of War 2 was the last one which came out 13 months ago.

MGS4 is going to be a pack in? I had heard there would be some huge über bundle with a special paint job PS3 and the game but is it going to be a pack in with a normal PS3?

GTA IV will go at least 5:1 for 360.

This is a seperate bundle than the "steel" PS3. This regular PS3 - MGS bundle is $500. Kotaku Article

The MGS Console is pretty damn sweet. I would consider picking it up, and I don't even really want a PS3.

I don't think it will be that high. Maybe 3:1 tops but i will be surprised if it goes more than 2:1. I imagine every PS3 owner will be snagging the game and some people (perhaps unaware of the DLC or simply don't care about it) will buy the PS3 with the game in preparation for MGS4.


Draven, that bundle does look kind of cool. I didn't know a cheaper bundle was going to come out without the special case/paint job. Thanks for the link!

I'd guess more like 3:1, though a higher ratio might be possible. We're at about 2.5:1 for total console sales in the US. It's probably safe to say it'll sell fairly evenly across platforms for both 360 and PS3 gamers. The less predictable aspects will be whether those who own both systems will purchase for 360 or PS3 and how many total PS3 owners only have the system for its Blu-Ray capabilities. I'm guessing both of these will tilt the ratio further in favor of the 360 version, but not by too dramatic of an amount.

Ya, 5:1 is probably high, but I think it will significantly outsell the PS3.
