I hope this continues the streak of good episodes we've been getting lately - I think the last 3 or 4 episodes have been really solid.

First half with the tax stuff was good. Second half was all right.

"From Comic Book guy to... (looks at Quimby's place on list) Milhouse!"

"I pledge allegiance to Fox News. Please take away our right to choose."

"Better heroine up this orange jucie"...classic.

Great episode...seriously this one was like season 10 good. Also, did anyone catch the shot at Family Guy (with the FEMA scam) and the Sopranos opening? Brilliant.

I got so excited when Homer put on that white outfit!

This was a well put together episode! A lot going on - loved the Sopranos opening.

"Here comes Grandpa with an Otter

How was the FEMA scam a shot at Family Guy?

It was technically a flashback only done in the reverse. It showed the FEMA scam first and then Quimby said "And that is how a fake FEMA director scammed us out of $2500"

I don't think it was a shot at Family Guy, unless you think clever jokes done in a non-hacky manner are shots against Family Guy.

And you know what? Fuck Family Guy and South Park - Simpsons is still the best and funniest animated show on TV.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Family Guy didn't invent the flashback.

I don't think so.

I don't agree with all the love for this episode. It was kind of a lazy retread for the Lurleen character and really wasn't that funny. Still Beverly D'Angelo could use the work.

On the FEMA scam, they voted to do it first.
Then they faked the hurricane, and the FEMA guy said he needed the $2,500 application fee.
THEN they had another town meeting where Quimby said they were scammed, and Lisa had time to find the delinquent tax stuff.

Anyone think the Dixie Chicks will release that song as a single?
I might actually buy it.

This was the best episode of The Simpsons in years and years, and I've enjoyed the show even through the rough patches.

Nope.

While this was a fine episode, there has been at least 4 episodes from just this season that were even better:

- Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind
- Husbands & Knives
- Dial "N" for Nerder
- Smoke on the Daughter

I was enjoying this episode until Lurleen showed up. Which saddens me. I did enjoy the Dixie Chicks song though.

Really? I thought Smoke on the Daughter was far too heavy-handed a "message show" and very light on laughs. But I'll agree that Dial "N" is definitely a classic (at least of the post-season 10 era).

All in all, this is shaping up to have been a very decent season.
