Harman Kardon

Does anyone know if Harman Kardon is still considered high end audio equipment? I was wondering because I see it can now be purchased at Circuit City.

Well like all other makers, there are better units then others.

However, overall, I'm a huge H/K pimp. I love them. They often don't give you the bells and whistles of some other units, but by and large have excellent sound (which for my money is the number one reason to get a receiver). I bought a previous years refurbished model and it was so night and day better sound then what I was using, I then bought a new unit our media room. So have one in the living room system and media room.

If you have done any looking you will notice their "low" power ratings. They are one of the few companies that measure power correctly. They can drive most any speaker out there and do it well. Sure if you are driving something difficult like Maggies, you might want to look to their mid level or higher receivers. But otherwise power is typically not an issue with H/K.

Highly recommended.
