I recently re-watched this for the first time on my HDTV. Anyone else notice the Pq is pretty sub-par for a film this colorful and flashy? Is it supposed to be intentionally foggy like a 70's porno? I've listened to the commentary and read numerous trivia tidbits about the film, it's one of my favorites, but nothing mentioned the intended look of the film. This is a title that begs for an HD upgrade. Anyone else agree?

The 2-disc remastered DVD looks almost identical to the old Criterion LD set (a bit sharper and more stable image) and a far cry from the single disc 1997 New Line DVD. As the Criterion laser was "director approved" I assume this is how Anderson wants the film to look.
