Over at Cinescape.com there's an announcement that Sam Raimi is working on another series of films featuring Jack Ryan. What interested me is the article mentions that Tom Clancy is writing another Ryan novel.
Has anyone heard anything about this?
Here's the article:

I haven't heard anything about a new Ryan novel... But I will share the story I heard from a Senior Editor at one of the big publishing houses.
Clancy had a very bitter divorce a few years back in which he had to pay his ex-wife a substantial amount of money. As part of the settlement, she got a half interest in Jack Ryan -- so any future projects involving him, the wife would get half. After that, Clancy swore he'd never write about Ryan again.
(As part of the same deal, the ex got the rights to the Splinter Cell series, and thus we'll be seeing those books from now until the end of time.)
It all might just be rumor... But it feels true. :)

I thought a divorce gave the ex-wife half of his present money. How could she get money from future projects?

Well, her maiden name was Ryan and she used to Jack ... well ... nevermind.

I quit caring about Clancy a long time ago every time I saw him in an interview or something he came off as a prick.

Well, I'm no lawyer... But Jack Ryan is an asset. And if she owns half that asset, she's entitled to half the revenue it generates.
Like I said, the whole story may be bogus...

And the book he wrote after the divorce was about Jack Ryan's son, Jack Ryan, Jr. Funny how that worked.
I understand that he had some sort of heart trouble a year or two ago, which is why he hasn't written anything new for a while.

Article about the ongoing battle between the Clancys:
Thanks - that was an interesting article. The last two books - the Jack Ryan Jr. book and the Red Rabbit one - didn't seem nearly as strong as his earlier novels. Despite its falws, the Bear and the Dragon seemed like a good final novel for Ryan, in terms of his career growth. All he had left to do was retire and write books, and its hard to write a novel about that.

No, no, no. The last book in the series was supposed to be about aliens invading Earth, and Ryan bringing all the world together to fight them. At the end he's elected Pope and the entire world converts to Catholicism.

I wouldnt mind more Rainbow Six stories. And finally a movie version of Without Remorse would rock.

That would be a good movie. I bet if Clancy ruled out Ryan novels, that goes double for Ryan movies. Would Without Remore be considered a Ryan movie, though?
