playing ms pacman, play for points or levels?

I just picked up Namco Museum battle collection and ms pac man is one of the games. I was playing my brother in law, and he plays for levels.. I play for points.. Help me decide this argument, who's right?

Since its creation...I have always played for levels by myself. Against someone else - points.

Points.

There is absolutely no point to playing Pac-Man for levels. None. Zero. Zilch.

He said Ms. Pac-man not Pac-man.

I can understand that for Pac-man since you have the same level over and over. Ms. Pac-man gives you different levels/sections so I always liked to see how far I could go.

It's points, don't worry. The High Score doesn't list the highest level you've gotten to, XBLA Leader Boards don't record what level you've gotten to, etc. There's no skill in getting past levels until the ghosts don't stay blue, there's skill in grabbing every fruit and eating every ghost.

Slightly off-topic, but I'll take this opportunity to suggest that a Ms. Pac-Man Championship Edition would be a most-welcome addition to XBox Live Arcade.

Take a deep breath. Of course it was designed around points. It's merely a personal preference to play for levels. I prefer trying to speed through a level as fast as I can and get further in the game (levels) than linger around trying to collect every ghost and fruit. If I wanted to do that, I'd just play Pac-Man.
