Funny Games

Holy crap, I can't believe they remade this. I just saw the poster today. Is there any chance this will be as violent and cruel as the original? I suspect not, but I'm definitely checking it out. The original was awesome.

Read about this in the new Esquire. Yeah, it's a shot-for-shot remake. I haven't seen the original, but the article definitely put it on my radar (if only for Naomi Watts). How was the original received? Seems like they're taking a big chance with a remake given the subject matter/content.

Even the ending??

I will be stunned if the use the original one. Mind you it will be great if they do.

Pretty much everything is identical, the ending (not surprising in the least really) and "Here's my point" remote scene.

Oh, and repost: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....3&page=1&pp=25

The original is pretty good. This remake is shot by the same director. They did the same thing a few years back to The Vanishing and ruined it by changing the ending.

I watched this last night after reading about it in another thread, the comparison to Clockwork Orange, which was the feeling I got from the remake trailer. I'll be impressed if Hollywood allows this to play-out the same as the original. Not near as violent as you'd think, more of the "Wow! That ear cutting scene in Reservoir Dogs was SO gross!"-violent
