Best Realease of 2008 (so far)?

What do you think the best movie is so far?

My vote goes to Cloverfield.

Blue State. I have not been interested enough to see any 2008 theatrical release. The first quarter film line up this year is the worst in at least 11 years.

Well ahead of the pack (of current films):

Jia Zhang Ke's Still Life.

It's a 2006 film, but its initial local theatrical release was last month.

Rambo and Cloverfield for me, I just saw No country for Old Men, but that doesn't count since it came out last November or December. I still want to see "In Bruges", and Doomsday looks like a lot of fun.

I hear Snow Angels is very good, but I haven't seen it yet.

I have to vote Cloverfield because it's the ONLY 2008 release I've seen this year...all the rest were Oscar nominees.

Cloverfield is, so far, the only movie that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I don't see it making the Top 10 of the year though.

I plan on seeing Funny Games, Blindsight, and In Bruges over the next few weeks, however.

I've seen 3 Films released this year and so far Cloverfield was the best. I'm sure it will not be anywhere near my top 10 by the end of the year though.

The only two movies I remember seeing recently is The Counterfitters which is a foreign film and Strange Wilderness which sucked big time. I used to go twice a month too, though i probably saw 5-6 in theaters in December.

That being said. The Counterfitters is a great movie and I highly recommend it. Its great if you like those WW2 era movies.
