Attention NYC folk: Park Slope HOLLYWOOD VIDEO closing down: All DVDs are ONE DOLLAR!
Wow, I love when DVD stores close down! The Hollywood Video in Park Slope (5th avenue at 8th Street) (take the R to 4th Ave) is closing down. All DVDs are ONE DOLLAR each!!! The store is officially closing this Friday. So get down there and clean it out!!! They still have loads of good stuff there - Hollywood Blockbusters, indie films, foreign films, tons of horror, etc...
This is what I picked up for a total of 20 bucks:
Angel-A (France)
We Don't Live Here Anymore
Antibodies (Germany)
Nothing
As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me (Germany)
Without a Trace (Mexico)
Golden Door (Italy)
Golden Balls (Spain)
2 Days in Paris
The Beautiful Country
The Jolly Boys Last Stand
Dust to Dust (Mexico)
Sound of the Sea (Spain)
Strayed (France)
Prisoners of the Mountains (Russia)
Initial D (Hong Kong)
Dead Man's Shoes
The Red Wolf (Hong Kong)
She Gets What She Wants
The Italian (Russia)

UPDATE:
The sale actually started February 20th (not at today's prices, of course) so the stock has been picked at for almost three weeks.
The final deal is actually 80% off, but if you buy 10 or more it's $1.00 each.
As of noon today, there are literally more DVDs in my living room than on their shelves. Everything is located at the very front of the store on about four stands. 90% of the floor space is blocked off and devoid of anything but empty shelving. If you go, allow 2-3 minutes to scan all the titles. You may be able to convince yourself that one or two titles might be worth it, but I can't imagine anyone getting excited anout the endgame of this sale.

Marty, what did you get? It was like striking gold...
I noticed the closing a week ago when the DVDs were from 7 bucks to 12 bucks. There were some that I held off getting till they reached the 3 dollar mark, and was lucky enough no one snatched them. I went back today and the store is almost empty...

The Mesmerist - Neil Patrick Harris in a tongue-in-cheek adaptation of an Edgar Allen Poe story
Jimmy and Judy- Edward Furlong in a "Natural Born Killers" rip-off
Manufacturing Dissent - a documentary about Michael Moore
Suspicious River - A Tartan Video release of Vancouver Film Festival "Best Film" winner
A Slipping Down Life - Lili Taylor and Guy Pearce
She Creature - Rufus Sewell (Dark City) faces some sort of Stan Winston creature
Can't say I ever heard of any of those last six ... but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I am slowly waiting for my local HV to close....they are currently at 50% off. Since ur store is obviously at final clearance, any idea what the % drops are?
so far my store has been dropping aprox 10% per week (begining at 20% then 30%, 40%, and now 50%) What should i expect? 60%, 70%, 80%? or is there any bigger jumps I can expect?
